BYE and Game 6 - Detroit Lions @ BEARS - 10/22 MNF 7:30

Am I the only one not all that enthused about this game? I wanted 28-3 or something.

A win is a win and all that, but winning pretty is way more fun than winning ugly and I want to leave that 2005 stuff in 2005.

I take any and all division wins. That defense was incredible.

It was, but we also got really lucky with the red zone blowups/turnovers.

Don't know what Bell was thinking extending where he extended.

It's not luck. It's the entire defensive game plan.

really concerned about this rib injury lingering. that's the main reason i'm so sour right now.

Nah, shouldn't be a problem if they are just bruised. Worst case, he sits out a week against a 1-5 Carolina team at home.

Joique Bell extending his arms and putting the ball in harms way when nowhere near the goalline was the game plan?

I understand that this defense thrives on takeaways and that it is not luck that we consistently have gotten them for just about all of the past 8+ seasons. That doesn't mean that we don't sometimes get lucky.

After 9 years of Lovie Smith's defense why are people calling the opponent's TOs luck still. Bend but don't break. It's the way the defense was designed.

Doubt he sits since he was able to come back tonight. If anything they will give him that crazy body/rib armor they gave Vick last year or the year before when he was playing with broken rib(s) that basically was a bulletproof vest.

Of course...and we got unlucky when 3 separate Lions fumbles went directly out of bounds before anyone on the Bears could get to them.

Were ribs his actual injury for sure? Or could it be something else and the Bears were just covering with the rib thing?

Nah. Ribs lower right side per Jay.

Really the only thing I saw that it could've been. I didn't even understand wtf it could've been at first, other than potentially having landed on Suh or the ball and having the wind knocked out of him. He immediately had his arms raised and was grabbing at his helmet, so I wasn't too worried that it was a shoulder.

Which accomplishes what?

"Jay, go out there and play with your worse injury so we can trick...somebody...for some reason...."

"..."

"Just do it!"

Silly me!!! The Bears have always been 100% forthright with injuries.

Did anyone see the hilariously ridiculous tux that Marshall was wearing?

Gotta capitalize on mistakes.

Explain how you possibly think this benefits them to hide that he has a worse injury BY HAVING HIM PLAY AN ENTIRE HALF WITH THAT INJURY.

Teams try to hide injuries, be vague about injuries, missrepresent them all the time in sports. Seriously it happens.

Yes, in football they do it in the days leading up to a game. They don't "hide" a more serious injury by just tossing a guy back out there behind an insanely vulnerable OL to play an entire half.

Yes. But as N&G said, you don't let YOUR FRANCHISE QB PLAY A WHOLE HALF IF HE'S REALLY HURT

YOU JUST WANT HIM TO BE HURT

Yes. Cutler was interviewed after the game. He said he landed right on the ball, which is what the replay clearly showed.

He was in good spirits, so it was encouraging. He admitted it affected his ability to follow through and affected the playcalling. That part was worrisome. But he didn't seem to concerned about it. So that was encouraging.

Am I the only one who saw that interview on Sportscenter?

Can we talk about how Urlacher looked a lot better?
Posted (edited)

I don't think anyone was going to keep Jay from going back in, he had to prove the remaining idiots wrong.

I don't see the need from Suh to bury Jay's head in the ground at the end there, but it's to be expected of the dirtiest player in the game.

Relatively speaking.

You're right, he definitely looked a LOT better than the previous games, but he still looks like a shell of his former self.
