Game 4 - BEARS @ Dallas Cowboys - MNF 7:30 PM

Great game tonight. I was completely not expecting th oline to step up and play well. The pass rush was a little light, but all the bounces went our way. I would like to see a little more use of Jeffrey, but that can wait another game.

I wouldn't say all the breaks went our way. 2 Dallas fumbles went right back to them, a Dallas punt landed inches from the end zone and managed to bounce forwards taking away a touchback and a pass interference call was overturned because of a tip even though the pass interference clearly occurred before the tip. But yeah overall a majority of things did go our way.

What was your predicted score? Something like 27-6 Cowboys?

All 3 wins for the Bears have been by at least 17 points.

Teams with a better point differential than the Bears: New England, Houston, Atlanta

Jay asked about walking away from Tice...

“I know you guys have to sell papers,” Cutler said. “It’s hard out there. But you can’t blow up every headline. Things happen during football games. Just because I walk off and go get water doesn’t mean much.”

How much is Urlacher's presence worth? Because that's all there is at this point is his "presence".

"There's a huge difference without him in our defense," Peppers said. "I wanted him out there. No, I need him out there. There's a sense of calm when he's in the huddle. He makes the right call almost 100 percent of the time. He has control of the defense. I don't know how he's feeling; you'll have to get that out of him. But are we talking productivity? It seems the same to me. I don't mean statistically. I'm talking about his impact on what we do as a group."

Stats can be misleading. Bears gave up almost 400 yards passing tonight.

so you agree that the bears' defense was one of the best, if not the best in the league last season?

I agreed a long time ago, you're thinking of Goony.

They were very good. Nowhere near the best though.

No, they were definitely near the best, if not the best. They just faced a lot of really good offenses.

On the one hand, I wish Gruden would tone down the overly positive lunatic skit because I feel like he could have a lot of interesting things to say and great insight. On the other hand, it can be ridiculously entertaining the way it is.

Even Bernstein has gone meatball on Cutler, smh.... :banghead:

http://chicago.cbslocal.com/2012/10/01/bernstein-stellar-play-trumps-cutlers-attitude/

Nah. Dan accepted earlier this week that Cutler is a douche and that he just loves that about him. This came after his jab at Pompei in the press conference this week when Pompei wanted a generic answer about Marshall getting more coverage.

The screaming, scripted loons of morning television and the unscripted goofs of local radio are held at bay – for a week, at least – by a combination of your own strong play, opponent’s foibles, and a wickedly effective defense.

He's even bashing those that would rip on him. He just says what it is. Cutler will get [expletive] on for that stuff when he doesn't play well, and it's true.

Safety Chris Conte got pulled late in favor of Craig Steltz as Conte dealt with cramping in his back and legs.

Also Earl Bennett was listed as out due to a hand issue.

Hope it's only cramping. There was a noticeable drop off from Conte to Steltz.

Gruden is taking some flak for the pre-game QB gunslinger bit, and it was pretty over-the-top. Almost manic.

One thing though: they added an entire production around it, with music, pictures of Clint Eastwood, etc. It was planned and supported by the production team. I don't know if that makes it better, but it wasn't just Gruden going off. It's the entire MNF crew doing it.

Frustrating night. Bought plane tickets to Tampa with a return flight of Monday night. When I realized my horrible planning, I tried to get a Tuesday flight home. They wanted $400 to change our flight, and that's not including another hotel night. So I figured I'd just DVR the game and keep my phone off. Even set it on two tv's to make sure nothing ruined my opportunity to see this game.

Our layover is in Houston and right there at our gait is a tv showing Monday night football and we have an hour and a half to kill. There is no way I can NOT watch it, so we watch. The big mistake was the wife wearing Bears gear. The flight to San Diego is at halftime. We land and as we are exiting the plane, the pilot says "great game by the Bears tonight" to my wife because she's wearing the Bears shirt. I ripped him a new ass on my way out for ruining my recording. She covered up her Bears shirt to avoid any further spoilage.

Got home and finished watching a most glorious game at 2am.

Under your breath or in your head, I hope...
