Game 2 - BEARS @ Green Bay Packers - 7:20 PM Thurs

The fact that J'Marcus Webb won the LT job (by a pretty healthy margin in my eyes) should be enough to tell you guys that Chris Williams on the field isn't going to help matters. Jonathan Scott, who also isn't that good, is a better option to take over LT in the future if Webb continues to falter. He's been a spot starter several times over the last 3 years and at least doesn't get completely blown by when he's out there.

No, none of the LT options (I'm not sold on Carimi at LT) are good options. But I have no problem benching Webb at this point and trying Carimi or Williams. Webb has been unacceptably bad.

Think about it though. Webb was "unacceptably bad" against Clay Matthews and Jared Allen in 2 of his last 3 games. Just so happens they are 2 of the best pass rushers walking the Earth, and he was given the task of blocking both BY HIMSELF for the majority of the games. Webb was acceptably bad or better for most of last year after the Detroit game, and in Week 1 vs. Indy. I don't think he's unacceptably bad for the most part. The Bears have and can win games with him at LT. The problem is he is nowhere near being good and most likely never will be. And I agree there isn't a good option on the roster (said Scott isn't good in my post, FWIW). And at this point, the Bears just need to get as close to not horrible as they possibly can on the OL. Webb has shown flashes of being decent, but he's shown too many flashes of horrible. Williams hasn't really shown anything at OT other than horrible. Scott, at least, has the most history of something resembling success in his NFL career.

Also to add, benching Webb might be a good idea for Jay Cutler's sake. Not that I think he's going to be pressured or sacked any less with another player at LT. But, let's face it, Cutler doesn't like Webb. Never has. This isn't the first time he's gotten in his face. He's dogged him in the media before. Louis, Williams, Omiyale, and Pace all have played horrible at OT in Jay's tenure in Chicago, and none of them saw Cutler's wrath the way Webb has for a while. It's pretty clear to me that Cutler doesn't think he can do the job, even if he hasn't come out and said so explicitly. Getting someone else in there would probably be best for Cutler's confidence and/or sanity.

I wonder how much of it is Cutler trying to light a fire under Webb? I doubt it, but I'll still sit here and wonder. And I'm done wondering. I think the skeleton of Orlando Pace would do a better job than Webb.

It's plainly obvious the blame and neglect falls squarely on Lovie and management. The coaches moving Spencer and Williams around are also to blame for this lines instability

I don't think it was by a healthy margin. Tice said he saw nothing from either guy all preseason. Webb got the job because he was the guy last year. If Webb gets destroyed again, you gotta give Williams a shot. Couldn't be worse.

"Playing with poise" is one of the dumbest [expletive] things someone can say. You don't play with poise when you're either getting sacked or under pressure for just shy of 50% of the times you have the ball.

In case you were wondering, Clay Matthews just sacked Jay Cutler again.
