At the chiefs game tonight. Soler's RBI single in the first was a chopper over the 3B head. The SB was easy. Okay jump. Shocking acceleration though.

@IowaCubs: Iowa Cubs final 4 games of the season at New Orleans canceled due to Hurricane Isaac. Season finale tonight at Nashville. #PCL #Cubs

Could we see some September call ups as soon as September 1st? Probably Beliveau, Cardenas, and Scrapana. Hopefully Sappelt. There's really no reason not to. We could use a spare RH OF anyway.

Logan Watkins hit HR #8. I asked KG if he's a future starter and he said no, but could be a utility dude. Not shocking, but I will be stunned at this point if he's left unprotected.

More stunned we'd have been had we not protected Ryan Flaherty?

For me, absolutely. Power was the only thing Flaherty had on Watkins.

@billazbbphotog: Seeing Juan Carlos Paniagua (AZL #Cubs) for 1st time. FB is an easy 96.

Law was asked in his chat today if Vizcaino and Paniagua were our two best pitching prospects and he replied probably.

@Kevin_Goldstein: I think even that is optimistic. RT @joelcreese: @Kevin_Goldstein Does Matt Szczur have a future beyond Reed Johnson status?

Why do these guys love to hate Matt Szczur?

The hell, it makes no sense for their hate. Szczur clearly looks like a 4th OF type that has a few years over his career where he performs like a everyday #2-3OF.

Because he's 23 years old and putting up a .753 OPS in the minors?
