It's Levine, so I don't know whether it's something he's heard or whether it's his speculation, but he expects both Javy and Soler to be announced on AFL rosters. Soler, I completely understand, Javy? Guess it can't hurt, if true. Do we get 5 or 6 guys, anyone remember?

You question Baez? He's only had 300 PA this year and could use the work. He turns 20 this year and has barely played half a season of professional baseball.

More from a "is he ready for it standpoint" than anything, I guess. AFL is considered what? Solid AA for the most part? I totally understand challenging Baez and obviously think he's our top prospect. Just wondering if next year is the better time to put him in the AFL. A lot of times the AFL is used to get a better look at guys we need to protect on the 40 man, so I was thinking they may need Watkins, Szczur, maybe Rhee, maybe Batista or a few other guys to really get a better feel for. Soler, I totally expect to be there.

I understand Javy's development trumps anyone elses though, just figure he's not on quite the timetable Soler is. Plus, while he DOES only have that many pro at bats, he did get quite a few early in the year in EXST, so that does at least count towards his development somewhat anyway. Like I said, if he goes, I'll be excited to see it. I just figure he's not going to be rushed.

Each MLB team is only allowed one player below AA so that can't be right.

If the Cubs moved Soler or Javy to Tennesse for the last week, is that allowed or are they required to be there for a certain length?

I think Cali mentioned the cutoff some time ago, we are well past it.

He did get about 150 PAs in extended too.

I thought I read somewhere that Soler and Baez could both go because Soler was on the 40 man roster. Don't know how accurate the article or blog was.

People have told me in the past that my hatred of the FSL and the Cubs playing there is overblown. I stand by my hatred of it.

I can't believe they were considering moving their rookie team to Florida, too. Thank goodness it was (likely) only leverage to get Mesa to pony up.

Candelario HR, first in a month and a half. Crushed it.

For someone who hit 4 HRs in a 5-game span at one point this year, Candelario has an ISOP of .070 for the last 2 months. Not going to complain about that too much though as the dude doesn't even turn 19 til Thanksgiving, and already has an acceptable walk rate. But he seems to have too much natural power to go that long without displaying it.

With AZL Cubs loss today, they will be the AZL Wild Card, and will travel to the AZL A's on Thursday for a first round playoff game (1-game series).

I couldn't find anything agreeing or refuting this so that just might be it.

If they are both going to the AFL, does that mean both could start next year in Tenn? Or will both likely start in Daytona?

Daytona, whether or not they go to the AFL.

Shawon Dunston Jr was hit in the ribs by a pitch in the bottom of the 5th, and left the game after running the bases. He was last seen bent over and possibly having difficulty breathing, and he appeared to be in some considerable pain. The Cubs cannot afford to lose Dunston (who is probably the best all-around player still left in Mesa) as they head into the AZL playoffs.

Also has a lot on how Maples looked: http://www.thecubreporter.com/2012/08/29/diamondback-big-leaguers-take-toll-azl-cubs
