i wonder how they'll screw up bundy

His entire career up to this point has been filled with shockingly fast promotions. And he's not even going to play SS right away? Like they think he'll be a big bat in their lineup at this stage of his career?

i was a bit surprised they started him at AA this year, but his performance (almost .800 OPS in a pitcher's league) has certainly justified their decision. it's kind of dumb calling him up at this point, but i don't think a month and a half in the majors before he's ready is going to ruin him. the angels called up mike trout as a teenager last year, he sucked in his trial, but now he's the best player in baseball history.

Trout was also destroying AAA before he was promoted; Machado is doing just OK at AA.

Actually, Trout was promoted from AA last year.

Truffle makes a fair point about league and park factors. Machado's numbers look better once you look at OPS+ (114, though Trout had a 155 OPS+ when he was called up last year). And while a month and a half might not ruin him, it's still incredibly shortsighted (and they're moving him to 3B in the bigs so he's losing incredibly valuable SS reps).

He's only losing 2/3 of a month of SS reps, though, since that league will end at the end of the month.

Fair point.

He's hit two homers tonight and the same fan got both balls.

Someone should tweet Goldstein and ask him if he'd rather have Machado or Vogelbach long-term.

This is funny, because Vogelbach hit two homers tonight as well. :-o

My reaction gif feels embarrassed. Seriously did not see this much production coming this fast. Unless it's a case of the opposition not really knowing how to pitch him and he's just taking advantage of it at the moment.

Hopefully, his cousin Albert does as well whenever he debuts.
