god, baez is such an exciting prospect. is he going to be our highest ranked guy since the patterson/choi/prior/cruz days? I guess Pie was way up there, too.

Castro was number 16 in 2010, but otherwise you have to go back to 2005 to find someone make the Top 25. Tragically, that was Dopirak at #21.

I stand corrected. You're right, I remembered wrong.

Hendricks pitched out of the bullpen?

It's been 10 days since he's thrown, I wonder if that was just to get him some game action before returning him to SP innings.

I don't see a scenario where Baez is not a top 15 prospect. I mean, there are many people who believe he can stick at SS and his bat is absolutely insane.

Agreed. He has the level and BB/K rates working against him, but if Goldstein and Law both say scouts have told them he's a SS, that means a lot. The thing we heard when he was drafted was that his bat could play literally anywhere, and if that is at SS, you're looking at an elite prospect.

Dopirak. One of those guys I remember as being a top prospect for years, then I look back at his Cubs career and he had that one monster year that catapulted him into the top 25, and he faded away as quickly as he emerged. We his case injury related or just run of the mil flop?

He didn't have the chance to get on a list. Probably would have been #1.

edit: nvm, he was BA #2 pre 2002

Vogelbach got caught stealing today.

At third base. :)

What's the story on Yao-Lin Wang? Looks like they're trying to stretch him out, and he's doing fairly well so far.

Stretching out Wang? There's a joke in there somewhere...

Hayden Simpson: 4.1IP, 6K, 0BB, 1R, 1HR

That's a vast improvement over normal.

Wow, Tim mentioning Andreoli made me look him up. He's doing about what I thought he was, but he's 6'1, 215 ? Would NOT have thought that.

Carlos Rodriguez pitched out of the pen today, going 4.1, 0 hits, 1 walk, and 5 K's.

He did that against the White Sox DSL team. Oddly, the last time he faced the White Sox, back on July 18th, he put up the exact same line.

In the DSL, it looks like Malave is quietly pulling it together. I know he's only 17, but does anyone know what type of power he projects to develope?

Jenner Emeterio and Roney Alcala remain interesting guys to follow. Roberto Caro too. Doesn't hit for power, not yet anyway, but seems to have speed and gets on base alot.

And I'm not sure if this is a new pic of Vogelbach or just the first time I've seen it, but it makes him look like someone who would beat up Macauley Culkin and make him eat dirt in a 90's move.
