Or we have some people that make a mistake and get jumped all over for it.

According to transaction history Chuck has been illegal since his May 20 trade with Tim (he added 3 MLB players but traded away 1 MLB player and 2 prospects and dropped another MLB player: net gain of the 1 extra guy he's had until Wednesday).

He should lose 100 points this week, his win against tim in week 15, his win against truffle in week 12, Theo in week 11, lynx in week 10, and brian in week 8.

wow, unreal. he had 100.25 points thru wednesday. those points need to go. not only has this been going on for months apparently but this is not the only time this has happened with him.

I'm not sure who is doing the "jumping all over" but I just spent 5 minutes counting players on each team's page and posted here. Since Karen doesn't really check in (and I pm'd and emailed her and she ignored me), I'm guessing she's never going to fix her lineup. I don't think she's been active since trying to draft the #2 overall pick in the amateur draft with her 2nd round prospect pick.

I don't know how Chuck couldn't know he was over the limit for 2 months, but even if he didn't, he still has to be penalized. he still got a benefit that helped him win and hurt the rest of the league for 2 months. what's the point of rules if someone can say "oops" and there's no punishment?

Again, no one is asking to stone violators in the public square. We're just asking that the rules be enforced. Why does that make us the bad guys?

Not bad guys for asking for the rules to be enforced. The attitude that goes along with it is a bit much, though.

Violations like Chuck's deserve a virtual stoning. But the disbelief that someone could ever make a mistake is over the top.

i don't care that he made a mistake (or mistakes). but mistake or not, there has to be penalties. if you don't want us to get upset about people breaking the rules, then STOP LETTING THEM GET AWAY WITH IT.

i don't give a [expletive] if he has 18 guys on his bench every week if he just automatically loses every week. what makes us upset is when someone has an illegal roster for the 7th time this year or for 2 straight months and we say "eh, mistakes happen," and NOTHING happens. we've been through this routine like 5 times this year. time to start putting some teeth in these "penalties."

Also Karen has 3 RPs in her lineup. Looks like she's had 3 RPs since June 4 though I'm not sure if they've all been active or in her starting lineup. She at least needs to lose her points this week. If just having 3 RPs on your roster is illegal, she should lose her wins since week 10 I think.

Yesssssssss.

one of karen's relief pitchers (drew storen) pitched his first game of the year on july 19th, so i'm gonna go out on a limb and guess that he didn't affect her results before that date. or really after that date since he has a grand total of 3 points.

Again I didn't closely examine each roster and the circumstances surrounding each player. I just counted and those 3 teams jumped out so I looked at their transactions.

Also D-block has an extra guy on the bench. Likely forgot about the waiver claim this week but he didn't drop anyone when he added Lowrie. So he was one over. Then added Drew and dropped Lowrie so he's still one over.

Sorry. I was illegal I picked up Lowrie to stash him on DL then Desmond went to DL so I had to pick up another SS and I thought I had the space to DL Desmond. Cut Lowrie and pickup a player

He beat me last week too with an illegal line-up and should have to forefeit that as well.

Juan still has Markakis on the dl when he's been active since right after the asb. While I'm in favor of having a few days to fix a roster for DL trips, he's had an illegal lineup for a few days and then the last 2 full weeks (both Ws). Seems those should be reversed.

At some point, people have to take responsibility for checking their opponents lineups each week, too.

I mentioned something in chat at the beginning of last week and nothing was done about it. I'm not here to babysit, but I did for one say that Chuck had an illegal roster when we were playing. I don't know why we even try with this league anymore. I've stuck around for 2 years hoping things would get better. I Have very limited time but produce a legal 7 start lineup every week. I'm guessing that this is my last year because it's not at all like it once use to be where every member actively participated. 12 years of it has been a nice run for me I guess.

Responsibility? We're responsible for our opponent's roster being legal? That can't be right. If my opponent ha an illegal roster and I don't notice but it comes out a couple weeks later, it should still be corrected. The responsibility falls solely on each team to be legal. Given how often teams are illegal, that's not a weekly obligation I'm willing to take on.

it's just a pain in the ass to be like "oh, six weeks ago my opponent had an illegal roster, please retroactively change the entire league results for the last month and a half."

for maybe the first time ever, i agree with don. this league sucks now and i might be done after this year unless we a) replace a bunch of people b) get a commissioner c) clarify/eliminate/change a ton of rules.

i also agree that it's not that hard to fit half-ass managing a fantasy baseball roster into your schedule. i work a full-time job and have a wife and two kids (one born 2 weeks ago) and i still manage to find time to check into a computer roughly 700 times a day. unless you're an astronaut or a sea captain i have no idea how you don't have 49 seconds on a monday to be like "hey, wonder if i have 6 guys on my DL."

if you're not actively managing your team it's probably because you just don't care (which is fine), not that you don't have time.

You guys are killing my play for next year strategy

I would hate to see this league fold.

Having managed losing teams in the past, I can say that it is tough to keep motivated when you are way out of the play-off race, but I did.

I do agree that we probably need a few new managers.

As far as rule changes...I would strive to simplify things. We should strive to eliminate those rules that lead to illegal rosters and clarify the penalties for having one.

But on the whole this league has been fun.

Thanks Juan.

Who even is our commish, and why hasn't my game vs Chuck been taken care of? He was illegal the entire week and I brought it up the first day in chat under live scoring. You take away 100 vs an opponent, you have to treat everyone else the same.

Hi All!

Apologies I haven't been checking in like I should. I did receive PMs loud and clear. Within a day of receiving, I did have a chance to go in and make the necessary changes to my lineup. As someone alluded to, it was exactly accurate that Drew Storen has been on my DL since the beginning of the season, and then came off. I had about 3-4 of my starters that were on the DL going in to the All-Star Break, and clearly didn't pick up on my extra relief guy. Penalize me however you wish...I don't think I'm going to win big this year anyway. Honestly, the Yahoo league I'm in is a whole lot easier to maintain and is much more dummy-proof for the likes of someone like me that doesn't have much more than a couple of minutes here and there during the week to do what I need to do. Apologies for my oversight and the lack of responsiveness...honestly, as far as priorities in life, this is at the bottom of the list and am totally OK with that decision :)

All the Best,

Karen

No offense but I don't think this league is the top priority for anyone. But if you can't spend a couple of minutes a week on it, what's the point of agreeing to manage a team? I can't believe it's fun to someone that spends no time on it at all and it's frustrating to other managers.
Posted

I completely understand, and it is my firm preference to manage my team better than I have this year. That said, I got a new and unexpected job change in April this year, so have been working a lot, along with spending half of my summer nights at the ballpark watching the Chiefs.

I know these are excuses, and didn't really want to get into the details, because ultimately it doesn't matter. I just haven't had the time that I anticipated having when I rejoined the league, but didn't want to leave the league stranded. However, this is a fun, nice-to-have for me and am perfectly OK if you'd like to replace me. This was fun once upon a time, but I am clearly not hardcore enough for this crowd.

No kidding - my team sucks but I'm still going to try to knock off Rodelo this week. 5 minutes, simply 5 minutes a day is enough to manage a team and keep a legal roster. If we appoint a commissioner, they can have the power to act for teams when that manager is on vacation, busy, or whatever the case may be.

We need 4-5 new owners, a full-time commissioner, and simplify the rules so that the system can handle them.
