This really isn't going anywhere productive, so let's please drop the non-baseball discussion. If you want a formal "policy" of sorts,

that very low bar, then you risk the community losing respect for your opinions, and potentially even disciplinary action if you fail to meet that threshold in a large mistakes, the expectation at NSBB is that you write to a level that people can understand you without a ton of extra effort. If you can't bring yourself to meet volume of posts. Thanks, and let's please let this be the final word on the topic, unless another mod wishes to clarify my words here.

Let's go with this: We can't make anyone use correct spellings or proper grammar, that's something you have to choose to do. While we all make our share of

In an attempt to end the garbage and get back on track I'll say this:

I am 45 years old. I do not type well. My lack of proper grammar or punctuation has little to do with lack of intelligence or education. It has a lot to do with lack of typing skill.

If I were writing a paper or an email to a parent or colleague I would take the time to double check everything, When I am writing on a sports board, I don't. Sometimes I get going on a thought and it runs on. I understand it because I know what I am saying. To someone else it may not.

However, if the absolute worst thing you encounter in your life is having trouble with a post on here, you have a pretty good life. If it truly is such a problem for you, then don't read them and don't respond to them. If you can't help yourself, put me as a foe then you will never see me posts. Whatever you choose stop screwing up the threads with personal attacks. It's juvenile and takes away from the board.

I suggest downloading a program called Firefox where it spellchecks everything you write automatically. It's a better browser then IE also. Anyways, you are in a forum where opinion is shared and discussed. It's hard for anyone to communicate if we all aren't spelling or punctuating correctly. Don't take it personally and just move on. No need to make it more of an issue.

appreciate that, a nice way to handle it.

The best class I ever took in high school was Typing. Never knew (since I'm even older than you are) at the time that I would use typing for anything more than an occasional resume', but 30 years later, my fingers still remember where all the letters were from that class. Maybe they offer something like that at a local community college near you. If you are typing on a message board, I'm assuming it's because you want people to read what you have to offer. Making it something easy to read is the best way to be heard (or seen). Taking a typing class might just make your online discussion time a lot more enjoyable, also.

Marlins asking for a kings ransom for Josh Johnson...

The Rangers, Blue Jays, Orioles, Angels, Braves and Red Sox are among numerous teams interested in dealing for Johnson. Indications are that Miami's talks with clubs have focused on such elite prospects as Jurickson Profar, Mike Olt and Martin Perez in Texas; Dylan Bundy and Manny Machado in Baltimore; and Travis D'Arnaud and Anthony Gose of Toronto.

Several baseball officials have said the Marlins are looking for a haul similar to what Texas acquired from Atlanta in July 2007, when the Rangers landed Elvis Andrus, Matt Harrison, Neftali Feliz and Jarrod Saltalamacchia as part of a seven-player trade that brought Mark Teixeira to Arlington.

Good luck, Miami.

The Angels are close to a trade with the Brewers for Zack Greinke, reports Ken Rosenthal and Jon Morosi of FOX Sports (Twitter link).

He also never reports anything as definite until it's confirmed by another source. Nearly all of his updates are blanket statements that cover his ass if he ends up being wrong, to the effect of "Dempster to the Dodgers is a done deal, if the teams come to terms". He's the John Madden of baseball journalism

I understand that, and probably has something to do with who he works for. But instead of presenting his stuff as confirmation of what is invariably all over the web already, he often presents it as breaking news. It just makes him look silly, imo.

You can't constantly play it safe and hedge and be a "breaking news" reporter. I almost feel bad for the guy.

Duquette had a funny statement today, basically saying teams ask them about whether Bundy or Machado is available, when told no, they hang up and call the other 29 teams.

Yeah, that system is very top heavy, to say the least.

I think Nick Delmonico could be a nice bat for them.

@mlbtraderumors: White Sox Acquire Francisco Liriano http://t.co/9CMO92Rz #mlb

Another potential Dempster alternative off the table to an under the radar team.

Which is a good thing because the White Sox weren't going to give us anything to get all hot and bothered about.

That's another positive move for us. Improves the market for any of our group. Solid move for Kenny, in a way. Gave up nothing, got a guy that could be excellent, if things fall right.

What are the chances the Sox make a qualifying offer on Liriano in the offseason? He's a guy I've been hoping we could grab in FA as an upside buy who could net us good prospects at the deadline next year, but I certainly wouldn't give any sort of a pick for him.
