Random facts:

* Since his last start in 2009, Franklin Morales has had only two appearances longer than 2 innings. Those two appearances happen to be his last two appearances (4 1/3, 3 innings)

* Morales enters this game having retired 13 straight.

* Kevin Youkilis is hitless in his last 18 at-bats, the longest stretch of his career. Meanwhile, Dustin Pedroia is hitting .133 in 11 games since returning from his thumb injury. And Adrian Gonzalez has just 1 HR in his last 76 plate appearances.

The brand of stupid you get from ESPN color analysis of Dustin Pedroia is truly mind-boggling. In that one AB, we got all these gems:

"When he starts his swing, he's doing everything wrong. Shoulders not balanced, front leg is--and then when he gets to contact, it's perfect. He's the only guy... Somehow it goes from ugly to perfect, and he's the only one who can do it."
"He barrels more balls... His hand-eye coordination has to be off the charts. I've seen him get hot, and he can put a team on those little shoulders."
"He does everything wrong, and he hits that ball... and I guarantee he's down there at first base tellin Alex Ochoa he should have hit a homerun. He has an amazing ability to get the barrel of the bat on the ball so often."

At least Castro's two ABs didn't suck?

I'd say 2 of his 3 were pretty rough. Scorekeeper was on crack not ruling the dropped popup on his 2nd AB an error, and his single traveled 9 feet.

I actually didn't see them, was in the car back from out of town at the time (hence the question mark)

lol nice defense. looked like he was still out, but stil scores the run either way

Maybe I'm wrong, but why was that Castro's fault on Ortiz's FC? It looked to me like Valbuena wasn't even over to 2B yet so Castro didn't have a choice but to take it himself.

One of the ESPN guys just pointed out how stupid the other two were being talking about a potential Castro trade ("at best you get a player as good as he is"). They then changed the subject.

I changed the channel the second it was brought up. I don't want to go to bed angered by stupidity.

I hate how DeJesus approach to the situation is to swing at 5 straight pitches. Cmon dude, put the pressure on the pitcher if you can.
