Well, that was predictable.

Well, if it was so darned predictable..... why didn't you predict it ???

Because I didn't want people flooding my inbox asking for stock picks, once they saw how awesome my psychic abilities were.

I don't know, it's hard to make the Houston Astros look this good without trying.

.... and just as you type that, Sveum sends Lalli up to pinch hit for LaHair.

Right, we'll probably have a 55M payroll next year.

I didn't say that. But they need to spend on impact players and sprinkle in some low risk high reward guys to supplement it not try to nickel and dime the team back to relevance.

Soooooo trade Garza????

If they're going to spend, then extend Garza. If they plan to do a rebuild from the primarily from the farm, picking up Ian Stewarts and Chris Volstads along the way then you trade Garza for the right price. We could probably get 3 very good prospects. He's really all we have as far as valuable trade chips. Dempster will bring back something, but as a rent a player nothing close to what Garza would.

Sooooooo 60 million dollar payroll

Do we have to remind Sveum that this game doesn't score like golf? That in baseball, you have to get a HIGH score to win?

Don't think we need to remind Sveum anything. Think we need to remind the offense though.

Let's see. Soriano is due 18 mil. Marmol 9.5. DeJesus is I believe 7. Castro and Shark will both be due hefty raises. Other than that, there's not much money in this team. If they don't go for a big name free agent like Hamilton, Hamels, or at least Upton or Ethier, the payroll could conceiveably be around 75.

Then again, it could also give us the freedom to re-up Garza, sign Hamels as well as Hamilton, Ethier, or Upton and still have someoney left over for a reliever or 2 and some low risk guys.
