I love Sveum. Nothing beats a perfect sac bunt

What the hell does that have to do with what happened with Castro last night?

He's clearly a troll. Why bother?

After that cybermetrics comment, I'll comfort myself with the fact that the defensive positioning stuff is probably the most impactful (did I make that word up?) thing (toward winning) that a manager can do other than not hurting his team offensively by pulling too much dumb overmanagey crap.

Hopefully the sac bunts with the 3 hitter are few and far between, regardless of his comment today.

No, you definitely pitch to Molina there. Both have hit similarly overall this year, Carpenter is LH and had just hit a HR.

I was critical of him early on, but aside from the Castro thing I thinks he's made mostly good decisions, I like him.

Will the Cubs ever get a manager this board doesn't complain about?

Probably not, especially since "this board" is comprised of individuals who have different opinions. In this thread, for example, quite a few people stick up for Dale.

Nope. No team has ever had such a manager.

And just because you complain about something he does in one game doesn't mean that you don't like him as manager.

OF COURSE the article mentions "not being able to execute a bunt." [expletive] BUNTS.

Pretty annoying that Sullivan would rather criticize Castro's "inability" to lay down a bunt rather than the decision to have him do so, but w/e.

yeah shocking that a guy who hasn't been asked to bunt in a game in a year and a half didn't do so effectively.

Come on, he had an entire offseason tournament to learn.

my problem with the bunt is mostly that it had zero chance to produce the desired outcome anyway, so it was, at best, a waste of one of our 2 best hitters. it's like sveum was going through the proverbial old timey manager's handbook line-by-line for the sake of doing things the "right way". YOU HAVE TO TRY, AT LEAST, YOU HAVE TO TRY!

the kid in little big league would have deftly outmaneuvered dale here, this was like the exact scenario they tested on him before he got the job

This response is so perfect it bears repeating.
