  4. 2008 seems like 20 years ago with regards to Geo. Very little value at all before the injury.
  5. I do not think Wood should have his number retired. If you look at all of the Cubs who have retired numbers, they all happen to be in the HOF. As most of us said, he is one of our favorite Cubs and he'll be missed. However, I do not feel Kerry has done enough to warrant having his number hanging from the pole.
  6. The was the best game ever pitched in the history of baseball. Never have seen anything like that movement in my life. Sad to see him go. Maybe CSN or MLBN will replay that game sometime soon with him retiring? He's All 20 on Youtube at least. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=nDgnfm3NOVY That wiffle ball to Dave Clark at the 1:25 mark is just unbelievable. Fixed.
  7. Really wanted Woody to be part of the team that won it all for us. That said, absolutely one of my favorite Cubs. He did whatever was asked of him and could have been a hall of famer if not for all of the arm issues.

  9. Just heard it on the Score. Sarah Wood posted something on her twitter account saying that with every ending is a new beginning. Peggy Kusinski broke the story. If true, thanks for the years, Woody. :hello:
  10. Only to the Cubs can this kind of [expletive] happen to.
  11. I love Sveum. Nothing beats a perfect sac bunt and he is not going to let the media or fans tell him how to manage his team. More contests, please.

  14. Ok, but the fans that were there in the 90's are most likely still going now. I cared about the Cubs as much back then as I do now. So because the expectations are higher we should boo? I really do not have a hard stance on if it's right or wrong to boo. However, after hearing how the crowd crucified Marmol yesterday night, I found it hard to believe he played for OUR team. Those are the types of boos you hear for the Bill Lambier led Pistons of the 80's and 90's.
  15. I do not remember the Sandberg, Grace and Dunston years (80's and 90's crowds) resulting in the booing we see now and those were some horrendous teams.
  16. I'm sure all of us who have been to or listened to a Cubs game in recent years has come to expect the crowd to boo when the team (or certain players) is playing poorly. Last night after Carlos Marmol got out of the inning, he seemed to be yelling at the crowd as he walked off the field. He was obviously lit up by Cubs fan during that 8th inning and it seemed to motivate him. I feel it has to have a negative affect on the players even if they say it actually motivates them even more. Thoughts?
  17. Take notes, Marmol. Not that it matters now, but take notes anyway. 10-16 and if not for three (at least) late inning meltdowns, this is a .500 team. Can't ask for too much more from this bunch.
