  1. DeJesus is an OBP beast. Clearly a Theo guy so far.
  2. Tack on runs would be nice and most likely needed.
  3. Stage set for JHJR to complete his monster day in the ninth.
  4. Our BP is not so good. Wood sporting that 13 plus ERA
  5. You want him to sacrifice the guy over for the pitcher to drive him in? Umm, no. I would like Geo to go opposite field in that situation and at least try and get him over. It opens up the squeeze possibility at the very least. So you wanted him to sacrifice the guy over for the pitcher to drive him in. That's what you are asking for here with that nonsensical "team approach" BS. You don't do such a thing. You try and drive the guy in yourself, because the pitcher is almost certainly a K, and if all else fails you still have a man in scoring position for the leadoff hitter. Who said purposely? I said take a shot to right field and at LEAST get him over. But Geo is great and all, so no biggie.

  8. http://www.desipio.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/mark-prior-towel.jpg Good luck to Mark. As a Cubs fan, you have to root for him. He probably feels this will be his last go at it and more power to him if he can get back to the bigs. His 03 season down the stretch was about as fun to watch as any Cubs pitcher I can remember.

  10. I know this is a bit early, but it's certainly nice to see other star players and organizations see the direction we are going. Cole Hamels says he will seriously consider the Cubs next season. While we know we will take our lumps this year, there is a clear and precise plan in place now, which we have not seen from this organization in decades. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/12181010-573/cubs-may-go-cole-hamels-mining.html
  11. And the more I think about it, I don't know if that's true. He is still not at an age where teams can say he is: "old", but he is nearing that area soon. If Theo can be a shrewd car salesman and get a team to buy his "past years' and not the current: "bad reviews, we could get some value.
  12. Not part of the long term plans of the team, getting close to an age where he will bring less and less of a return especially if the terrible start keeps up. If he is not part of Theo's plan for the future, the older he gets with the bad production, the less he is worth.
  13. It depends on how badly you need the car and the salesmans urgency to get rid of it. The car (Soto) is costing us more money than it's worth and we need to cut our losses. Do we take a reasonable offer and move him/it or roll the dice and keep him/it?
  14. Lets say I am going to buy a car that has a good history but since then has taken a few hits in the press. Do I make an offer to a savy salesman based on it's history, or an offer based on a few bad press reviews?
  15. I don't consider Soto to be a centerpiece of the franchise that must be extended into his mid thirties, but now is just an awful time to deal him. Why not see if he can regress to near his career average performance by mid-june, and then start working the phones? I hope he can get hot and then, yes, work the phones.

  17. What are you defining as a long while? Better part of last year and the first part of this season. And the funny thing is is that I like Geo. He has a career .794 OPS, which we can obviously live with. Once again, my frustration with Geo is that he does not look like he is making any adjustments and he looks foolish at the plate. He is 29 and there are a few teams that MIGHT give a decent return back if he can hit a lick between now and the ASB.
  18. Gut-driven overraction? I have watched Soto fall off the map for a long while now. This is hardly an overreaction.
