Anybody worried about bringing Hamilton from Arlington to Wrigleyville?

No more worried than I was to bring Milton Bradley from Arlington to Wrigley. Or Marlon Byrd.

I read that to assume he was referring to the nightlife?

Bingo

I would think living in Texas would drive a man to destroy his life with drugs and alcohol more so than living in Wrigleyville would tempt a man to indulge.

Give him whatever he wants, when he dies of an overdose you are out of the contract.

That's the problem with today's long term contracts. Back in the 80's, the shorter term contracts were motivation for these guys to play well and earn their next fix. How else do you explain Eric Davis' improbable comeback in his mid 30's?

Ryne Sandberg signed one of those shorter term contracts and he just up and quit.

I bet if he had a drug habit to support he wouldn't have.

To be fair, Arlington is in the greater Dallas area, which isn't exactly a quaint little town of pleasantries. I'm sure he has as many temptations there as he would in Chicago.

I'm sure he doesn't.

Just think, Theo signing Hamilton would make up for Hendry's awful mistake of trading Hamilton away for nothing.

Are you aware of the evil you're about to bring upon this thread?

Or the Tf in that post? The only thing that would help fix is the lineup/OF for the periods he's healthy.

Somebody was going to eventually, figured I'd get it out of the way.

While it never was to be, I wish I lived in a world in which Josh Hamilton joined Lee, Ramirez, Soriano, Soto, and DeRosa in '07-'08, although 2010 is when he really exploded.

Then you would have missed out on the Jim Edmonds era

Imagine a lineup of

1. Soriano

2. DeRosa

3. Lee

4. Hamilton

5. Aramis

6. Edmonds

7. Soto

8. Cajun who will remain nameless

Eta: since this is a fantasy world, I suppose that a 17 year old Starlin Castro could have played SS instead of the other guy.

Yeah, Dallas sucks.

FFS, every [expletive] time somebody says the Hamilton thing, I swear WSR makes the same exact 9 posts.

OK, I knw this as been beaten to death, and Hamilton was never meant to be a Cub, but still, its hard not to want to live in a world where the Cubs Rule 5d Hamilton for themselves and not the Reds. In this world, Hed have made a hell of a difference, and who knows how '07-'10 would have panned out with Hamilton in the lineup instead of the likes of Jacque Jones, the productive but grossly overpaid Kosuke Fukudome, and Milton Bradley. That lineup could probably have looked something like:

CF Felix Pie

2B Mark DeRosa

1B Derrek Lee

RF Josh Hamilton

3B Aramis Ramirez

LF Alfonso Soriano

C Geovany Soto

SS Ryan Theriot

Oh well, back to reality.

May 16, 2008

Josh Hamilton has been a 1 man wrecking crew tonight. Just imagine the Cubs had we kept him for ourselves instead of drafting him just to help a rival.

Soriano

Fuku

Lee

Ramirez

Hamilton

Soto

Theriot

DRo

AND

The Reds wouldn have Ednison Volquez.
