How do I hate the White Sox? Let me count the ways:

- Hawk Harrelson

- Their obnoxious fans who care more about the Cubs losing than their own team

- Hawk Harrelson

- Kenny Williams' smugness

- Hawk Harrelson

- Their conniving owner who uses Pud Selig as his own personal puppet

- Hawk Harrelson

That's better.

The only thing that really bothers me about the White Sox having a winning season this year is the meatball response from Cubs fans/journalists who will look to Ventura as proof that the Cubs fucked up in not hiring Sandberg.

Oh man, I haven't heard this yet. Have you heard this, or just anticipating it?

I just wanted to express my jubilation over Giancarlo Stanton being in the Home Run Derby this year.

Just anticipating it. It's inevitable that someone like Kaplan or Sullivan will bring it up if the White Sox keep winning.

Now he might not be in it.

Giancarlo Stanton indicated Thursday that the Marlins haven't ruled out the possibility that he'll undergo arthroscopic surgery during the All Star break to remove a loose body from his left knee.

That's the last resort, of course. The Marlins have already ruled Stanton out for Friday's game, but he will take part in full pre-game activities to test the readiness of his knee. He is questionable for the rest of the first half, as well as the Home Run Derby and All-Star Game

NNNNOOOOOOOOOO!!!! I want to see 12,000 foot home runs!!!!!

Relevant to the last few posts, Stanton will have knee surgery tomorrow morning (presumably of the arthroscopic variety, as previously mentioned) and could be out a month.

Bryce Harper will take his place on the NL All-Star roster. No word on who replaces him in the Derby.

It'll be Andrew McCutchen replacing him.

Lame. McCutchen is a great player, but not the type you tune into the Derby to see.

Stanton was my prime motivation to watch it, too. :x

Harper should have replaced him in the Derby.

Yeah, my interest in the derby just dropped a bit. Was really looking forward to watching Stanton crush the ball.

Some of you may or may not be interested in reading this oral history about the rise of the country's first all sports talk radio station, WFAN in NYC. I came to NY around the time this station was at its peak and listened a lot for a few years before it eventually just bored me. Kind of interesting story.
