That dude is about the least credible source you could possibly find. He is a complete joke. He literally just mines rumors from ESPN or whatever source, posts them as fact, and when he is wrong he deletes the tweets. When he is right, his little cult of followers get all excited. Ugh. I really like this trade assuming it goes through. At the very worst, I believe our 3, 4, 5 spots in the rotation are set for the long term. Depending on what happens with Garza we are just lacking one more top of the rotation pitcher from being pretty set.

if it really was about Atlanta wanting to give an extension, and him not wanting to they could have settled it by throwing in Baker or Johnson and a fringe prospect, with us still getting something to offset money.

What? If Atlanta's decision is based on Dempster willing to sign an extension Reed Johnson isn't going to change their mind. If there was going to be something to change their mind, it would have to be someone young with team control, preferavly at a position of need. Even that likely wouldn't be enough if an extension was the sticking point.

Total random prediction: Maybe this is where we move Brett Jackson to help get a young pitcher, as we were rumored to want to do last winter.

No, Reed Johnson would not be holding them up. However, settling on a prospect could. Assuming that Dempster has approved the trade but not the extension part they could be discussing prospects to close the deal. Won't be a top 10-15 but won't be a Rebel Ridling or Casey Coleman type either. My guess is something along the lines of a Brooks Raley, Dallas Beeler, Erik Jokisch, Logan Watkins, Arismendy Alcantara type. And if they end up with more of a prospect than our side planned to give up, then our side could be asking for an upgrade as our extra piece.
