Whatever the Cubs decide to do with their next radio deal, I hope it includes a more substantial post game show. The current version is severely lacking, usually providing a recap with high(low)lights, manager remarks, other scores, and a [expletive] of commercials. It would be nice if they provided more analysis and fan reaction. But, usually that part is skipped so they can hurry on to the [expletive] Gary Mayer show after a weekday afternoon game or other programming after night games (classical music discussion I heard while driving home from the Monday night Brewers game). I don't regularly listen to the postgame show, but it would be nice to have something more substantial to listen to while out driving. Anyone know when the current deal runs out? I want to say that I've heard the current contract labeled as a "sweetheart deal."

Don't you dare talk [expletive] about Milt Rosenberg.

The last thing I want on a postgame is [expletive] fan reaction

ETA: Strike that, the 2nd to last thing I want is [expletive] head fan reaction. The last thing I want is Dave Kaplan speaking.

Host: Vinny from Melrose you're on.

Vinny: .....

Host: Vinny, go ahead.

Vinny: .....

Host: Can Vinny hear/(interupted by Vinny)

Vinny: Hello?

Host: Yes, hey Vinny, you're on the air, go ahead with your thoughts on today's game.

Vinny: Am I on.

Host: Yes, go ahead.

Vinny: Yeah, dis is Vinny from Melrose I got a comment and question about the Cubs.

Host: Let's hear it.

Vinny: Yeah, this team, every year we hear in spring training that they will be working on fundamentals and every year, this team, they can't do the fundamentals. When are they going to get a manager in here who will make these guys work on bunting and baserunning and being where you are supposed to be? And bench them when they mess up.

Host: Good question Vinny, it does seem like this team just isn't fundamentally sound.

Then dont [expletive] listen then. I know there will be idiotic callers, but not all. For me, if Im frustrated with the Cubs, listening to fan frustration is therapeutic, regardless of how idiotic some fans will be. Thats part of the reason I follow the game threads on this board is to get fan reaction. I cant do that when Im driving.

Milt once had a two hour show on the history of punctuation.

Exactly, he's the greatest.

Pretty much every ball club has an ESPN affiliate for post game talk. They call it 'Extra Innings' in Cincinnati; with former player Darrell Rodgers. I would assume it's because WGN has so much regularly schedule programming.

That actually airs on the Reds' flagship station, WLW.

In recent years (say the last decade at least) WGN has aired a substantial call-in show postgame on nights and weekends, usually with Kaplan or one of the guys from the sadly-departed NSBB "call-in" show. I don't ever recall a big show on a weekday afternoon.

Caller: "this is Gary from Orland Park.....I'd take a team of 9 Ryan Theriots over 9 Aramis Ramirezs any day. That guy plays the game the right way, grits out hits with his lunch pail, blue collar attitude. He's a gamer. I'll hang up and listen to your response."

It's difficult to imagine just how dreadful a team would be with Ramirez pitching, and Ramirez at every defensive position.

i just want the white sox games moved so i can listen to boers and bernstein again

Someday you'll realize the gift you're being given.

I don't agree with a lot of what those 2 say, but they're pretty amusing at times. Half the time it's more of a sports themed comedy show than a legit sports talk show, especially when both teams are bad.

Plus they'd be too lazy to field Team Theriots constant dribblers to 2B and next thing you know they'd be down 11-0 in the 3rd.
