here's how i think the various cluster [expletive] should be handled.

1) teams with illegal rosters don't get points scored from today's game and will continue to not get any points as long as their rosters remain illegal.

2) mooch has to drop the prospects he picked up, as the prospect draft was still going on.

3) mercy kill the prospect draft after round 3, then a free agent free for all. if a guy was SOOOOO important to you, you should have taken him in the first 3 rounds.

4) you get 6 hours to pick in the prospect draft, then you get skipped.

5) if you pick someone who has already been picked in the prospect draft, a) you're a dum dum b) the draft continues as though you had made a legit pick c) if you discover you flubbed up, you can pick at that point, obviously choosing from whatever's left when you figure out you're a dum dum.

1) With the wacky way baseball scheduled this stupid two game set I would fine giving everyone a pass for these two games. With that being said, any roster that is illegal going forward for the remainder of the season should receive zero points any day their roster is illegal. There is a way the league to automatically keep track of that.

2) Already done.

3) Agreed.

4) Also agreed.

I'd also propose moving the Prospect Draft up to just after the signing deadline for next year, so this isn't a problem again.

I'd also agree with this. If people want to keep it in March then the major league draft HAS to start sooner and also incorporate the draft clock so that way whether or not a team is on auto or not the system will make the pick at the end of the designated time allowed.

I find it hard to believe that that many teams still have space in their minors and still want to pick in the minor league draft.

Would those that are done with this draft, please post that you are done. I think that would speed things up.

BTW - I am done for now. Later on during the season, I may pick up some more prospects, but I can't pick up anyone selected in the June draft. I assume that will mean also any international prospect who has not signed yet (ie Solar). But since Concepcion has already signed he is eligible for our prospect draft and could be picked up (as soon as the waiver wire is open) as a free agent.

With the early start to the season, did anyone get an unfair advantage due to an illegal roster? If not, I wouldn't get too upset.

Also, has any decision been made on how many starts we can have this first week? Normally it is 7, but this is a weird week.

Essentially this first period (today through Sunday 4/8) is a short week like that after the all-star break. We could either use the amount of starts we use for that week or just go with the standard 7 since all teams will be starting with a fresh rotation (1, 2, 3, etc).

I'd say it's an unfair advantage to have 15 pitchers on your team which prevents others from adding those guys. Esp now that we have the "anything to get 7 starts" rule, holding extra SPs screws other teams.

The players that are going to get released though for the most part will be crap and not worth starting on any other team.

You're not familiar with the team I took over. I kept Wade Davis and Collmenter and one of them nearly made my legal roster due largely to the fact that there were no other SPs to add.

The only pitchers that would make a difference would be ones on Oak and Sea.

But having better SPs available effects the decision on which guys to keep and which to drop. I didn't realize there were so many SPs that should have been FAs, so I prioritized SP figuring the pool was shallow. Turns out it's not as shallow as I thought.

I assume that it's not cool for me to add 10 SPs over the ASG weekend and then decide which ones to drop just before games begin again. Obviously that's an extreme example, but it's similar. It's sort of ridiculous that teams would hold that many extra guys on the bench for days after the draft when there were multiple posts about the deadline for legal rosters.

and in my matchup, roadster had an oakland reliever in his lineup that he dropped after the game. that obv would have given him an advantage had the guy pitched.

and, like GR said, keeping 8 guys on your bench prevents other teams from picking those guys up.

if you start a thread titled "LEGAL ROSTERS BY 3/28," there absolutely has to be some type of penalty for not abiding by the rule.

He scored zero points where is the advantage. If he scored a point then deduct it but I should not get penalized for the points gained by Hernandez,

obviously nobody on your bench will score you points. that doesn't mean that having a seven man bench isn't an "advantage."

the rule is rosters had to be legal before today. the most obvious penalty for failing to abide by this rule is to not get any points for a day your roster was illegal. i don't think that's overly harsh.

If I haven't already been passed, I'll pass in the prospect draft. I don't even know what the hell is going on because I can't wade thru all the [expletive] in this thread. This league is way more [expletive] dramatic than it needs to be.

Then it's Karen's turn, unless she's passing.

It doesn't have to be dramatic, I just want to get this done ASAP so it's done. Everyone who wants a player just draft one quickly, and then this crap can be over and done with.

I could have picked 8 hours ago, but didn't see the 1 post saying Chuck was presumed passed and it was my turn because of all the complaining about how long it was taking and what do do about the Japan game(s). Would have thought a thread called "2012 Prospect Selections" would be about the selections in the prospect draft.

Sorry, should have made a note of it in the draft order.

by the way, the league wouldn't be so dramatic if a) people followed the rules and/or b) we didn't have needlessly complicated rules.

don't blame the "drama" on the people who are like "hey, pretty sure eight man benches aren't allowed."

It's all of the above.

1. The rules are needlessly complicated. Years ago the rules were made to make it more realistic. It's not real baseball. It's fantasy.

2. People who are like "hey, pretty sure eight man benches aren't allowed" are complaining about 2 games a week apart from the rest of the games with only 2 viable starting fantasy options between the 2 teams (Ackley, Felix). It's not the end of the [expletive] world if someone has an illegal roster right now. Not that serious that important information gets lost in threads.

3. People who are complaining complain about everything all the damn time. If it's not rosters, it's about trades, if not trades it's the rules. If not the rules it's people complaining about the people complaining. Hell, you were just complaining about how long this was taking. I don't know why we can't get together do an online draft 1 damn day set a month in advance. You can't make it, you autodraft.
