Watching the first week of the pre season, something came clear to me.

The NFL and the NFL refs need to figure out their differences. The replacement refs are beyond terrible. One of them during the Cowboys-Raiders game marked the ball at the wrong hash-marks.

Yeah, they are really bad. The excellence of NFL officials is severely underrated. Easily the best in any team sport in the world.

Well this could be interesting...

The good news is that the replacement officials could soon be getting fired. The bad news is that the locked-out officials may stay locked out.

The in-between news is that the NFL may use only one official on the field to spot the ball and walk off penalties, with the rest of the officiating being performed in the booth by league employees watching TV monitors.

That’s the current rumor making the rounds on the league’s grapevine.

There's totally no glitches that could come out of that plan of action....

So much for that.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello says the NFL will not be using one-man officiating crews in lieu of full crews of replacement officials.

“There has been no discussion or consideration of that whatsoever,” Aiello said by email.

I never paid much attention to it before I got on twitter, but quickly realized profootballtalk is complete garbage.

It is. But since my twitter access at work is limited, it's all I got. At least in this case they freely admitted they were just posting a rumor.

i really don't want to look, but i find it hard to believe that the officials are asking the league for a back-breaking amount of money, here.

They aren't. About $15million or so total for the entire group of refs.

Skip Bayless is a moron.

"I'm going to throw it out there. You also have the black-white dynamic and the majority of Redskins fans are white. And it’s just human nature, if you’re white to root for the white guy," Bayless contended. "It just happens in sports. Just like the black community will root for the black quarterback. I'm for the black guy. I'm just saying, I don't like the dynamic for RG3. It could stunt his growth in the NFL."

NFL Players draw their own football cards

(Spoilered for size)

2. Russell Wilson, Seahawks.

Ugh. I can only imagine how annoying this kid is in the huddle. "If we lose the football, don't worry. My dad's in charge of the football factory. He can just get us more for free."

So Skip goes overboard for Tebow because they're both white?
