wow, Michigan got verbals from five 4-star '13 recruits today

that's pretty exciting

3 more 4-star OL recruits after quite a haul last season. Our OL is going to kick some serious ass in a couple years. Add in the fact that Michigan just beat Ohio in bball, and it's been a great day for Michigan.

EDIT: Michigan just got another 4-star commit. Make it 6 on the day.

Let's just say I won't be counting on Neal until he's actually in the building, if you will.

I was wondering why Texas or Conner Brewer never recruited him since they played together, guess it might be something around this.

Neal commits to ND

What a disaster that whole announcement thing turned into. Why was he announcing at an elementary school? Why did the principal pull all the kids out of class to watch the announcement? Also, hope he picked ND on his own instead of being forced by his dad. Weird commitment all around.

Kevin Sumlin is reeling in recruits left & right. We are up to 14 commits already. Hopefully they are still there coming Signing Day 2013.

After this year, I'm doing my best to not get too excited about the early commits.

Mizzou did have another guy sign today though. Brandon Holifield out of Florida. Crazy raw, he started playing his football in his senior year. I think he's a 3* guy. Regardless, nice to get a few guys out of the Southeast.

Well thats a touch misleading.

He enrolled at another school, right? Still, enrolling at another school with a few months left in his high school career can't make ND feel comfortable about his character.

This is what ESPN was saying. If he is just transferring that looks a lot better, but what kid transfers his senior year with 2 months remaining. Plus just qualifing academicly with ND seems like it could be an issue. Though I though ND was always pretty thorough in that prior to offering.

Five-star athlete Davonte Neal, Notre Dame's most recent commit, has withdrawn from Chaparral High School in Scottsdale, Ariz., Chaparral athletic director Sam Messina confirmed in an email.

The Arizona Republic was the first to report Neal's withdrawal.

It is not yet known how Neal will finish his academic work. Both Messina and Chaparral head coach Dave Huffine told the Arizona Republic that Neal withdrew for personal matters.

Neal, who was the last uncommitted player from the ESPNU150, picked the Irish last Tuesday over North Carolina, Arizona and Arkansas after a whirlwind day that saw him fail to show up for his originally scheduled morning announcement at his former elementary school, Kyrene de la Esperanza, because of personal reasons. Roughly 600 kids had missed class for the scheduled event.

At 5-foot-10 and 175 pounds, Neal is ESPNU's No. 1 athlete and No. 8 overall player. His future could be at receiver, cornerback or as a return man.

Neal was the Irish's 17th commitment of the 2012 class, moving their class up to No. 9 nationally.

"There are a lot of things, that from our standpoint, we're still getting information in on," Notre Dame head coach Brian Kelly said. "But he's going to have his academics taken care of, and that's really the most important things for us."

He wouldn't have had a LOI to sign if he wasn't qualified academically (obviously pending graduation). I don't know all the details but he's had some issues to overcome. Obviously I hope he's solid with ND and doesn't flake like others have in the past (looking at you shaq). I don't think transferring is any big deal as long as he graduates.

You know many kids who transfer to a new school with 3 months left in his senior year? Yeah, me neither.
