Feel the same way I did after free agency last year. The Bears are one of the teams in a position to really take the next step and legitimately compete for a Super Bowl championship. I've never once suggested they go all Eagles/Cowboys and sign everyone or trade up to the top 5. And I understand the value of scouting. But it seems like the Bears are more content with trying to find a diamond in the rough rather than making a big splash play for someone that can really help this team the moment he steps on the field.

It was the OL and WRs last offseason. This year it's signing a bunch of special teamers, spending on a RB, and drafting projects. The Marshall trade was wonderful, as was the Cutler trade. But for once, I'd like to see the Bears take a chance. Go all out and bring in a lineman. OG, OT or OC in free agency. Trade up and get a Fletcher Cox, who the Bears basically said they thought was the best defensive player in this draft.

I don't have a huge problem with their approach thus far. Cutler will have several more weapons (I would have preferred they draft another TE in the 5th) in Marshall, Jeffrey, Bush, and Rodriguez, and if Carimi is ready the O-Line will improve. Really my only quibble is the 3rd round pick. Should have gone O-Line there.

I'm not upset at the draft. I'm not upset at free agency. I'm not upset about last offseason in an uncapped year. I'm upset that since the lockout ended last year, the Bears have added 1 player that projects to have a major impact. Maybe 3 if McClellin and Jeffery work out very well. And this is not a rebuilding team that should just be adding depth. They are probably 1 more impact player away from being one of the top 6-7 teams in the league. An offensive lineman or DE that's ready to get to the QB Day 1 would do wonders for this team.

Joshua Moore all over again. Undersized CB who isn't all that fast. At least it's the 6th round this time,. UGH

He's six feet tall. That's not undersized.

He's not 6'. Hes 5'10". And Jeffery isn't 6'4" he's under 6'3". No point in pretending these guys are more than they are.

jeffery is 6-3 1/4

louis played really well at RT this year. williams is the backup at LT, with spencer/e. williams/rachal all capable guards with spencer as a backup c and garza who can play either guard position. they don't need any more backups.

I didn't realize you were as blind to the line problems as you appear to be. Anybody taken in the 4th this year is automatically more talented than 3 of 5 bears linemen. They didn't need a [expletive], let alone a 7th rounder

that's just not true. there's no reason to take a 4th round lineman when you have a bunch of them.

the line is absolutely fine except for LT.

I agree they should have taken the Iowan OT in the first, or DeCastro, but pretending that Webb will eventually fill the need is crazy

I wasn't sold on Reiff anyway. At least not to the point where the Bears HAD to take him. But damn. A 3-4 LB, a converted CB at Safety, and a WR who was listed as 233lbs as recently as December, is not maximizing value, in my opinion.

Isn't Jeffery already down to 215 or something?

212. But he was also intentionally working to run faster and get down as low as possible so he could earn millions of dollars. If he ran a 4.48-4.54 (depending on who you ask) at 212, what does he run at 233lb, which is obviously his playing weight as that's what he was listed as in both 2010 and 2011 by South Carolina?

I wouldn't put much weight (derp) into that. Guys can get cut up and lean for the combine. It proves next to nothing on their ability to keep it there.

Brandon Marshall ran in the 4.5x range. granted, he has a couple of inches on Jeffery

Man what happened to James Brown? Projected rounds 3-5. Plays mostly guard but can play tackle. If he's still there in 6 picks we should really try to save some face and pick him up.

I'd be good with that. Even though he's only 6'3" he has long arms, so some LT potential is there. Won't likely help us this year unfortunately.

This is a better undersized CB than the last one. I'll be moderately surprised if anyone the Bears drafted will get a 2nd contract from them.
