It's a pretty bad FS class, as you can see with Hardin being projected Rounds 3-4 despite being ranked 2nd. You can also find draft boards who think of McClellin as an easy 1st rounder. This same source has him projected as such. Do you have anything to backup your "5th round talent" claim?

Even if Hardin's not a reach, it's quite hard to get excited about a special teamer in Round 3, especially with OL still being a rather glaring need.

"fifth round value"

and who said I was excited about Hardin? I already pointed out he wasnt who I wanted. I only posted his info because I realized he wasnt as much of a stretch as I originally thought.

I downloaded an app on my phone, NFL '12 or something like that. That called McClellin a 5th round talent. Who knows when it was last updated. He certainly rose quickly the past few weeks though. That scares me, although it makes me feel a little better that the Bears/Emery has been eyeing him before he shot up.

Interesting. Not sure I buy that opinion, but oh well. I'm not going to lose sleep over the pick. I think he'll do fine.

I'd give our draft a C+ or B- right now. The Jeffery pick is an A or A- for me.

Also, kinda bugs me how it's Jeffery and not Jeffrey.

He didn't play all that bad last year and could be motivated for one last decent contract, but what about signing Albert Haynesworth to a one year deal? I don't see any harm in it myself, if we don't draft a DT tomorrow. There's more upside with him than anything left on the board at least.

That so reminds me of Johnny Knox.

Except, you'll note, he isn't tipping the ball into the defenders hands. He's actually making a play for it! What a concept!

I love the Jeffery pick. Going from zero big, matchup problem receivers to two? Cutler is going to be like a pig in [expletive].

Conversely, it appears thus far that Emery & Co. meant it when they said they're not concerned with the O-line, which seriously concerns me.

Cutler was sacked 23 times in 10 games and only 5 times in his last 5. The Bears probably think getting away from Martz' offense will help even more. I certainly have hoped we'd address the line this off-season, but if they don't, I can at least see where their thinking is coming from.

C-, B+, B- for me.

McClellin is just a weird #1 pick for a cover 2 D for me.

Right now I'm at B-, B, and C-... So I would give it a C+ right now overall with a potential to be B+ (if it's 2010 Jeffery and Hardin is an at least average starting SS)

Walterfootball has Bears with B, B, and D grades so far if anyone is wondering...

the thing is, it's not like jay was taking a lot of 7-step drops during the season, and they played max protect on passing downs a lot and jay still got sacked. webb is not ill-suited for just martz's system, that's a lie people keep telling themselves. he's a bad LT, maybe the worst in the NFL, and emery, most likely acting on a recommendation from tice, who's most likely acting on his own arrogance and a desire to re-emerge as an HC candidate and talent evaluator, failed to address the O-Line on the first two days of the draft.

they have ignored LT because they are wedded to the idea that Webb is a diamond in the rough. this myth was debunked last season, it's time to admit as much and move on.

I'll go ahead and say their D grade of Hardin is a tad much. They say no major board had him ranked anywhere near this and he should have gone in the 5th round. But cbssportsline has him at a round 3-4 pick, NFL draft countdown has him as a mid-rounder, nfl draft scout has him @ 3-4. It's not as outrageous as they say, especially given the fact that he's very tall and runs well.

I'm a bit concerned with the injuries since he missed all of 2011 and had a previous hand/wrist break as well. He's apparently a big hitter, but also apparently fragile. Not a good combination.

I like the pick, it's a bit of a risk but I think there's a decent chance someone else would have jumped up and taken a guy with his measurables before we picked again.

I also disagree with their high ranking of the McClellin pick.

I'll go C-, B+, B-

I think it's now imperative that we pick OL.

We do agree a lot.

That could very well be what the Bears are thinking.

1 career interception in college makes me wonder about his ball skills, though. Obviously I know little about him in reality. I'll be very interested to see him in camp.

To me, if he's remotely healthy, Marcus McNeill still makes a ton of sense for us. I'm not as down on Webb as some, but he's certainly a weak spot.

Not sure what it'd take, but I'd like it. I'd like to see us move up to get Charles too. Rumors say we like Ron Brooks in the 4th though and I'm OK with that too honestly

My top 10 players available (for the Bears):

1. Bobby Massie, OT, Ole Miss

2. Brandon Boykin, CB, Georgia

3. Billy Winn, DT, Boise St

4. Alfonzo Dennard, CB, Nebraska

5. Orson Charles, TE, Georgia

6. Alameda Ta'amu, DT, Washington

7. James Brown, OT/OG, Troy

8. Ben Jones, OC, Georgia

9. Josh Norman, CB, Coastal Carolina

10 Zebrie Sanders, OT, Florida St

There are a couple players that may be better players, that don't fill a need for the Bears (aka Cam Johnson, DE, Virginia, and a couple RBs and WRs)

What the hell? I honestly do like Ron Brooks, and he's probably worthy of a 4th round pick. But seriously, are we only drafting players because of special teams ability? McClellin, Hardin, Brooks, and everyone the Bears signed other than Marshall are all guys that are almost more valuable on special teams,

Maybe they think having receivers that can get open will help prevent the coverage sacks that happen when they go max protect.

As for the part about Tice, if that's true he must really believe in Webb to be be putting a lot of his eggs in that basket.

And he's using his hands to catch the ball instead of his chest.
