Osi makes a ton of sense for us. He'd be better than any rookie DE we can find at 19 and we still would have the ability to draft impact types in the 1st and 2nd. I'm really starting to want us to trade down at this point, by the way. I'd love to be in the 25 to 30 range, with an extra 3rd or 4th.

I kind of want them to move up in the 2nd, having 2 picks in the top 35-40 or so could really help provide 2 impact 2012 starters.

I'd be completely fine with that too. Seems like Wright could fall into that range possibly. Same with a Nick Perry or a Jerel Worthy. Should be solid value at OG in that area too. So yeah, a trade back from 19 and a trade up from 50, could make a ton of sense, especially since the value appears to be a very small separation between 15 and 40 or so.

yes, it really is

No, it really isn't. It's not about waiting for Urlacher to retire. This is the NFL. Teams decide when they want to move on from a player, not the other way around. If a LB of value is available at the slot it would be perfectly reasonable to make the selection. The defense can use help everywhere.

moving on from urlacher would also be monumentally stupid if they don't see any red flags in terms of decline. the defense does not need help at linebacker, it needs help in the pass rush and that's where the value is going to have the largest effect. at this point, there is just isn't a huge leap in value there for the team.

Who knows how it will play out, but it's entirely possible that the pass rushing value won't match up to the potentially Kuechly value if he drops to them.

We've already seen yellow flags. Urlacher has been on the decline. He's also coming off a serious injury, and recovering from serious injuries at his age is difficult. He is signed for one more season, and it is going to be difficult to bring him back at a cost/cap effective extension. The smart football thing to do is to probably let him walk after 2012. That might not happen, but he has to be willing to take a lot less money to justify a new deal.

I see both sides of taking a LB in the 1st. Yeah, there are other positions that are more of a need obviously, but our guys are certainly not getting younger and it wouldn't shock anyone to see us go through an injury or two this year at that spot. It's not my first choice, by any means, but if they have someone they think is the BPA, I'm not going to get pissed either. Outside of QB, RB, and C, I'm OK with any position addressed at 19. I just "prefer" either Line, WR, or CB.

I wouldn't just want any LB taken at 19 though. My point is specifically if a guy who many have as a top 10 talent just happens to drop to them, there's no reason to pass because of position depth. If he does fall it could easily mean a run on other positions has hit the value of those positions as well.

i'd rather pick a WR than any other position besides DE. if we pick a guy like wright or floyd, that turns our offense into a strength, and we can use that to compensate for the decline our defense is going to suffer over the next few years. rather than plug the holes on the defense to maintain the status quo, we should get more playmakers (or maybe build a nice wall around cutler) on the offensive side of the ball. then, as you're dominating in the passing game from year to year, you go to rebuild your defense.

I'd probably prefer that as well. But it's not stupid to take kuechly at 19.

i'm really not ok with taking chandler jones at 19, at all. i will literally be sick if we pick him. he is a slower gaines adams, make sure to get the echo done before you put him on the field.

Mayock thinks he will be the best defensive player out of this draft.

The Chicago Bulls will open their NBA playoff run Saturday regardless of their opponent, with starting time yet to be determined, the league said Thursday.

I agree with that too and I do see Kuechly as that type of talent. I think I'm trying to prepare myself if we take McClellin or Irvin at 19.

Well that's a horrible decision by the Bears.

Why draft a backup LB in the first round when we could draft a starting DE?

When you imagine the scenarios leading to Kuechly being there, a run on pass rushers is one of them. Theres a chance there wouldn't be a DT or DE there thats a starter. The prospects are pretty flat from 15-50. I wouldn't put Kuechly in that group. So if he falls he's a steal.

Like Sulley, I'm not a big fan of Chandler Jones. I think raw doesn't like him either.

Chandler Jones also missed 5 games last year to due to injury, I thought with Emery we were also past the "picking guys with medical flags" thing?

if the vikings take claiborne, what would you all say to the bears trading forte and the 19 for the 4th and taking kalil? i don't know if they can get a better return than a pro-bowl running back and a first rounder for it.

I would hesitate, big time.

I would need to figure out a way to get their 2nd round pick in that situation. Forte, 19 and 50 for 4 and 35? I don't know. Forte and the 19 should be worth a lot. And they'd be coming out of this draft down a RB.

Forte, 19th pick, and our 3rd round pick for No. 4, their 2nd Rnd pick and Hardesty?
