As draft prospects, Fleener is way better than Olsen was.

How so? Serious question, not trying to be a smart ass.

Better blocker, better hands.

Perfect draft for me starts with trading Forte for Osi, with us getting their 2nd and sending them our 4th. Take Brockers in the 1st. Give up our 3rd to move up and get Wright near the top of the 2nd. Take David Wilson with the other 2nd. Get Dennard in the 5th and a developmental O Line and S with our 6 and 7. If McNeill. Can get healthy, sign him to compete with Webb, using the cap savings from trading Forte for Osi.

Multiple people here are talking about trading Forte today. Is this actually on the radar?

Not that I've heard, but it's probably because he's still not signed, and its draft day. Some people would rather trade him than deal with a potential hold out.

Ah, ok. I've got no problem trading him for the right return, I just hadn't heard anything about it actually being a legit possibility.

i just said i think that he could definitely be traded today.

roach is a very good player

No he isn't. He's competent enough to hold his own in the short-term. But he's very far from very good. He's completely replaceable.

who cares if he's replaceable? the position is unimportant. he absolutely does all you can ask for at SAM and plays it as well as anyone could. replacing him with a first round linebacker and waiting for urlacher to retire is an indefinite waste of a pick. kuechly isn't going to perform much better at the position and as i said, could get sidetracked in his development.

drafting a linebacker in the first is moronic.

No. It is not.

yes, it really is

No, it really isn't. It's not about waiting for Urlacher to retire. This is the NFL. Teams decide when they want to move on from a player, not the other way around. If a LB of value is available at the slot it would be perfectly reasonable to make the selection. The defense can use help everywhere.

Kiper has (I think) Mercilus going to the Bears.

McShay has the Bears drafting Dont'a Hightower.

Kiper's latest has Chandler Jones. McShay's latest had Coples (now hightower).

They've been all over.

Huh, I was watching the scrolling bar on Mike and Mike this morning and it was running through their 1st round mocks.

Maybe the "final" links were wrong, or they have a different definition of the word.

Reports are that the Colts are shopping DE Dwight Freeney

I believe this has been assumed all offseason.

Somebody with the trib tweeted yesterday that it doesn't make sense to trade for Osi because he thought "the goal was to get younger". The goal for the Bears should be to get younger. There is no huge need to get younger, it's all about bringing in talent. They don't need a 33 year old back up QB. But they can use talent anywhere, no matter the age, if the price is right.

Yeah, and Emery has made clear that they are building for now....not so much for down the road in this draft. They want to get guys in here that can make an immediate impact, whether that's by draft or trade.

Osi makes a ton of sense for us. He'd be better than any rookie DE we can find at 19 and we still would have the ability to draft impact types in the 1st and 2nd. I'm really starting to want us to trade down at this point, by the way. I'd love to be in the 25 to 30 range, with an extra 3rd or 4th.

I kind of want them to move up in the 2nd, having 2 picks in the top 35-40 or so could really help provide 2 impact 2012 starters.
