Brewer is for sure gone. Korver would be nice to have back because he's fairly solid offensively when Rose is around. Without Rose is a totally different story, he can't create his own shot whatsoever so Thibs has been playing him less and he's not worth much, especially since he can't play D. Watson is a solid backup, but has looked bad in the postseason which is what everyone is going to remember. Tough calls.

I say keep Korver and Watson and ditch Ronnie. By no means would I be that upset if they got rid of Korver or Watson, but as of now it seems logical to keep them as #7/8 pieces of a possible championship caliber team. They have to upgrade the #2/3 player on the team. A backup star is needed.

Neither Watson or Brewer leaving would be a problem for me. I still think Korver is a weapon, despite his obvious flaws.

Not the least of which is looking like Ashton Kutcher.

Boozer has played relatively few minutes with Taj Gibson or Omer Asik. And the time Boozer has shared with Asik, who brings zero range and unproven passing ability, has been horrid for Chicago. The Bulls managed only 94.9 points per 100 possessions in those 149 minutes, a scoring rate that would have beaten out only the historically awful Bobcats this season.

The reason you don't amnesty Boozeer is because it isn't beneficial. At best you've increased your cap space from the taxpayer mle to the normal mle which is the difference of 5 to 3 mil i think. And u won't get an upgrade to Boozer with 5 mil anyways.

I'm mostly working off of CCP's numbers here, but without amnestying Boozer, does dumping Watson, Brewer, Korver do anything? Doesn't that basically ensure pt for Butler and Lucas, since there'll be no cap space to sign replacements?

Dumping at least 2 of them without adding salary (or dumping all 3 and re-signing Asik to a small deal) gets them out of the luxury tax. That seems to be the goal if that info is true. And that's a really scary goal because the Bulls will likely have to go into the luxury tax eventually to not get worse than they are right now. There are ways to build the team and avoid the luxury tax, but they won't be easy.

Rumor is that the Cavs are going to go hard after Asik. So I think a small deal is out of the question.

The Cavs must think defending the paint is the new OBP.

Exactly. Boozer is disappointing relative to his contract but he still is productive. If we amnesty him, we'll barely save any money and almost certainly get worse production from whoever replaces him.

My guess is that Boozer will be amnestied before the start of the 14-15 season. That summer Deng's contract comes off the books. So far the Bulls only have 48 million in committed salaries for that year. So provided they stick with 2 year contracts to fill out their roster this summer, they could possibly have cap space for one max contract that summer. You also hope that by that time Mirotic can come over. That said, I have no idea if there will be any FA worthwhile that year. Probably not.

I'm Ok with a minor overhaul of the team. I think the Bulls could get a developmental big late in the 1st to replace Asik. Maybe a Festus Ezeli or Fab Melo, who are similar all D, no offense type players. Brewer and Korver can go and can be easily replaced. CJ probably has to stay because of Rose's injury. I'd probably look to either move some players or draft picks around to get another young talent that can score. Someone mentioned Nick Young recently, someone like him would be ideal but I don't know how feasible. But the league is full of guys in the 6'4"-6'8" range that can score and get their own shots (though the Bulls have none).

If all goes well, the Bulls can look to trade Watson or Butler (depending on depth at SG and SF) and get another piece of the puzzle or draft picks.

How does seeding work with the NBA draft? Will we get a better pick now that we are getting bounced in the first round? Or is it based on regular season records? I can't believe I don't know this.

Apprently they just said on ESPN1000 Noah is out of his aircast and is a game time decision tonight.

I'm sure Noah is pushing to play.

Chicago Bulls center Joakim Noah shot free throws without a brace on his sprained left ankle at shootaround and is a game-time decision for Game 5 Tuesday against the Philadelphia 76ers.

Omer Asik will start regardless of whether Noah, who was still walking with a limp, plays. The Bulls are down 3-1 in their first-round Eastern Conference playoff series against the eighth-seed 76ers and could be eliminated Tuesday night.

"We'll see, maybe it gets better from now until tonight," Bulls coach Tom Thibodeau said.

Come on, a limping Noah? Sit him tonight, hope there's a game 6 for him to be 100%ish

Agreed. I don't see the point in trying to rush him back tonight.

The point would be that if they lose tonight, he has all offseason to heal the sprain. I'm not suggesting playing him for 40 minutes, but if there are times where he can make an impact on the offensive or defensive end, and he's not blocking anyone else from playing, I think you suit him up if he says he can go.
