Were there any rule changes that we were thinking about discussing/changing for this year?

 

We should start discussing them if so. I don't recall anything off hand, but figured I would throw it out for discussion.

 

The only discussion that I remember was something about the finals.

 

Wasn't there some discussion about expanding the bench?

this is a minor issue, but i'd petition that this isn't really balanced toward hitters:

 

A year is a season in which a player has 50 or more plate appearances, 5 pitching starts, or 10 total appearances.

 

a regular position player, if he's a starter, will probably have close to 700 plate appearances over the course of a season. a starting pitcher will make somewhere close to 35 starts, and a full-time reliever might make almost 80 appearances. so i think 100 plate appearances is a more reasonable number to bring it into line with the cutoff for pitchers.

 

(note this wouldn't help me at all - kipnis, goldschmidt, rizzo and trout all burned an exempt year in 2011 by getting between 100 and 200 plate appearances)

Fun Twist. Unless I'm missing something, there's no way for me to tell how many points a now-FA had for his team last year b/c he doesn't show up on the team page.

 

If anyone can tell me where I can find this info, that would be great. Otherwise, trying to come up with these trades is a lost cause b/c I don't know dick about the scoring system.

 

ETA: on a related note - how do you find out who scored the highest last year in order to prep for the draft if you can't see FA points from 2011?

Go to Players --> Stats. Click "Years" on Timeframe and go to 2011. The FPTS is listed on the right column, though it looks like Pitchers and Batters cannot be listed on the same page.

 

To see the highest scores from last year, change the Player Status from "Free Agents" to "All Players."

No, I used it to find my team's stats but I couldn't get FA stats to come up in chrome, as I just said.
