Yep, no difference between Dodger Stadium and Miller Park. Their defense was very similar too

166 vs. 171 in OPS+

Yes, Kemp was a better defender. I'm not saying Braun was the obvious winner, but let's not pretend that he didn't deserve consideration

Sure. That consideration should have been "He was a slightly worse hitter, he played a less premium defensive position, and he missed 12 games." That's the end of the consideration.

Last two NLers to lead the league in offensive WAR from an up-the-middle position: Biggio 95 and McGee 85.

i mean it's interesting to see who wins the awards and stuff but i don't understand why people care about who wins so much.

anyways, this stuff seems meaningless to me. half the time they aren't right, and i don't care about which awesome player gets more attention for being awesome.

The biggest joke had to be when Jimmy Rollins won it

Jeff Kent.

Edit: both weren't the best player on their own team, but it was Barry Bonds. Rollins was probably a more all-out egregious choice though.

Why should Matt Kemp get added value for being terrible in CF? Because its CF? Braun could be terrible in CF as well, does that give him added value?

Uh, what?

He'd be more terrible than Kemp. And also Kemp isn't terrible. But this argument is terrible.

*edit I'm also terrible for having Jeff Kent on my mind because we were talking about stupid MVPs

Yes, yes his defensive #s in 2010 and his career #s are very relevant here.

I'm not even sure if Braun was the MVP on his own team.

So if Yuniesky Betancourt put up Kemp numbers, does he get extra credit for playing shortstop?

Do you think Braun would be a better defensive SS than Betancourt? A better defensive CF than Kemp?

Never claimed that. Just saying Kemp hurt his team in CF.

Not last year.

And yes, I know what the UZR numbers are. I know what Braun's are, too Both guys are basically serviceable at best fielders. I just don't know why you're arguing like Kemp's defensive numbers last year are such a slam dunk knock against him as if Braun's aren't against him.
