I find it hard to get excited about a managerial hire, but at least I can't really find anything objectionable about Maddux. His sense of humor could also serve him well in deflecting the media.

I can care less about this humor. Just worried about this hinges on his family? Seriously, if you want the job bad enough your family will be fine.

really?

So...no interview today, then Alomar on Friday. Are there any other scheduled candidates or do we announce Maddux as the new manager tuesday?

Aren't the fall managerial meetings in a week or so? I would imagine they name their skipper this coming Monday or Tues before the meetings take place.

Managerial meetings? never heard of them. I know Boston set a deadline of Thanksgiving, so that would be the latest it would happen probably.

I'd imagine they'd like to have it done by then, but it probably isn't a real requirement.

Quade to interview for the Twins triple-A manager job.

I wish him luck. He did a fine job in Iowa.

Are we talking about the Winter Meetings? Those are in the second week of December, iirc.

No. The GM meetings next week.

I like that Maddux was yuking it up with the media. I hope the brass didn't think he was being flippant about the process though. He seems like a smart enough guy to "get it".

Also, as a PR move to smooth over the meatheads pining for Sandberg, coaxing his brother to be the pitching coach would be huge. Hopefully Greg's daughter gets her neurological issues sorted out.

There is strong sentiment in the Cubs offices that their best team in dugout will be Mike Maddux as MGR and Greg Maddux as P-CCH..FABULOUS

Don't tease us like that Jim Bowden. :beg:

Like you I wonder who his sources are, especially since he recently made comments about the Cubs attempting to trade for Crawford. He sure seems to have some source. I guess we will find out how reliable it is.

I guess I could handle this instead of Dave Martinez.
