If the first two Cardinals had gotten out in the 9th inning of Game 6, the last out of their season would have been likely made by a pitcher in the leadoff spot, because he ran out of pinch hitters.

Which is kind of funny because Tony never, ever, ever uses his backup catcher to pinch hit. To the point where Adam Wainwright pinch hit 3 times in 2010. Yes, 6 WAR, top 3 Cy Young finisher Adam Wainwright. Jason LaRue, the backup catcher, pinch hit twice. The 20 inning game last year he let a pitcher hit with the bases loaded twice while the catcher was on the bench. Oh and the pitcher was batting behind Pujols because he switched Matt Holliday out of the game.

[expletive] like that, every game.

You cited ONE game. Listen, you can pick apart the series, and say that they were just lucky, or they won in spite of him, but what about the White Sox? What about Oakland. Third most wins in MLB history?

Why am I even arguing with you? Clearly, you wish to ignore all the successes, and seem to opine that the man has enjoyed Forrest Gump serendipity as a baseball manager.

He has enjoyed these successes - these are facts. Undeniable facts. He has won everywhere he has been.

It is what it is. I am done here.

the white sox were a .500 team under him and only won their division once in 8 or 9 year there.

as for him having the third-most wins, dusty baker has the 21st most wins and probably will wind up in the top 10 since people keep giving him jobs.

He also pointed out that a lot of his success hinged on the fact that he's had great players on his team, which is a byproduct of good ownership and front office management. His success is largely attributed to the FO's ability to bring in quality players. Correlate his success throughout the years with the players in his lineups and you'll find that when he was at his most successful, he had some pretty damn good players on his team.

I realize I am pointing this out late and believe me, I am not defending LaRussa in this situation, but it is true that you CANNOT see into the visiting bullpen from the visiting dugout. There is a large screen up that the relievers warm up behind.
