It's a passive listen. I like getting the news as it happens and the occasional interviews and such.

Sometimes it aggravates me enough that I'll shut it off, though.

I'd probably have it on too if I could get AM radio reception in my building. Sports talk radio holds a strange, "gawking at a car wreck" style fascination for me.

They're not always wrong about that guy. Hendry was that guy for a while.

Hendry was never that guy in the media. Never. Up until it was announced he was gone the assumption was that he was coming back and that that wasn't necessarily a bad thing.

That's not true at all. But I live here, and you don't.

Yes, because in 2011 one must live in a city to read and hear the sports talk in that town.

What, we're supposed to believe you convinced the Chicago Tribune to mail a copy to you ever week? Seems unplausible.

Nope, men riding ponies delivered a stack of the previous week's Tribs to him every 7-10 days.

For the record, I don't completely disagree with Jersey in that, while people actively wanted Hendry to get canned, the level of random hatred for Hendry was not in the same realm as Kenney. As people have pointed out in the past, Hendry was extremely nice and well liked as a person despite his GM shortcomings. Many media members held back their criticism for Hendry when he left instead of doing a Red Sox style smearfest on the departed GM. That doesn't mean that they weren't all glad to see him leave for the sake of the team or that they werent outwardly critical of his tenure. Do you think, knowing how Chicago has run other negative figures out of town in the past, that this was the worst they could do with Hendry? They could have destroyed him in the media but held back.

With Kenney its exactly the opposite. People think he's a twerp and do not like him and constantly write negatively about him despite actually being successful at his job.

yeah, i think that's exactly what jersey was getting at. there were people who wanted hendry out, but he was never the OH MY GOD HE IS RUINING OUR TEAM KILL HIM TO GET HIM AWAY guy that kenney is (and certain players have been in the past).

While the title looks great and all, does anyone else find it odd that Kenney is still listed as a part of the "Executive" management team? Whether by design or oversight, to the casual observer the organizational structure listed at cubs.com would lead one to believe that Theo's move was indeed a lateral one. Not a great idea heading into the final turn of compensation talks.

I don't believe the move was a lateral one for an instant, but perception is in fact reality to many. How Clown Kenney views the new culture in the Cubs front office remains to be seen. The only rationale for leaving the structure like this (if the listing is not an oversight) that I can come up with is to avoid the appearance of a demotion for Kenney. The blurb in the OP article about Kenney refusing to give up the biggest office at Wrigley to the new owner may hold more truth than we realize. Hoping this article is TR's way of laying the groundwork for a roundhouse kick of Kenney to the curb at Clark & Addison.

You have a point. The beat writers definitely didn't criticize him as much because of their personal relationships with him

Kenney = business side (marketing, advertisement, convention, etc), business side is good.

Kenney = good

Hendry = baseball side, (players, salaries, drafts, etc), baseball side not good.

Hendry = not good

That's about as simple as I can make it. Kenney might rub the writers the wrong way, for some reason. I think most of it has to do with his association with the Tribune. But, these unfounded accusations are pretty amazing. I guess they have to find a bad guy somewhere, that's the only thing that makes any sense to me.

People really thought Hendry was going to make it through this year?? Geez, I honestly never doubted he'd be gone for a second.
