Has there been any word on the "compensation" due to the RSox beyond the $3.5M buyout?

It's all going down today.

According to John Dennis of WEEI in Boston, the Red Sox and Cubs will start talks regarding compensation for Theo Epstein on Thursday.

And if the compensation talks fall through? Never know what will happen. There is still plenty of time for a change of heart. Relax people. Just don't want to see your hearts all broken.

I hope your TV explodes and you can't get another one for like a week and are stuck watching some standard def backup.

I vaguely remember someone once saying this was a family board. I'm setting some really disturbing visuals from this thread.

Vance didn't post his cat crap pics again, did he?

I can't believe how good of an offense the Cubs looked on paper. Looking down that lineup on August 1st, here are the OPS's for the regular starting 8

.960 (Ramirez)

.930 (Sosa)

.910 (Lee)

.870 (Alou)

.850 (Nomar)

.825 (Barrett)

.820 (Walker)

.750 (Patterson)

Compared to this years team:

.871 (Ramirez)

.819 (Pena)

.773 (Castro)

.759 (Soriano)

.742 (Fukudome)

.721 (Soto)

.719 (Byrd)

.666 (Barney)

Different eras no doubt but wow.

We had the 08 Cubs and you're jerking off to that garbage Dusty 04 crap?

Do people forget how [expletive] awesome the 08 Cubs offense was?

We were second in MLB in runs with no DH. 3rd in OPS. Who does that?

We should really bring back the hottest woman contests.

I declare Theo the winner

And we got swept. Yeah, those are memories to jerk off to.

I look back more fondly at 2008 and getting swept, than 2004 and the abortion that was the end of that year.

I get emotionally invested in the playoffs but, in a rational sense, barely care about them. That was arguably the best team in baseball and definitely the best team in the NL and I still look back on that year very fondly.

Yeah, last year was limp inducing.

I don't. Those playoffs were embarrassing.

I will bust on your face.

2008 was horsepoop. The best team in baseball gets swept by a 20-6 combined score, never leading after the fifth inning of Game 1, continuing a streak of 8 consecutive playoff losses (all by 2 runs or more).

But none of that matters now. We are in the Theo Era.

If you get embarrassed by getting the short end of the variance stick, well, that sucks.

Good teams get knocked out in the playoffs all the time. Teams get swept pretty often too. It happens and it's the nature of the playoff format.

What is variance?

If anything I'm trolling CC. Even though I really don't care about getting swept 3 years later. It takes something truly evil, like 03, to get me to think that irrationally.
