It's pretty glaring how much the Blackhawks miss Toews and Sharp out there. Obvious lack of playmaking out there.

Here's the positive spin on all this:

 

Better to suffer these injuries now rather than later.

 

This pretty much forces the issue on 2nd pairing defenseman and Center.

 

Still plenty of season left for a talented team to make the playoffs.

 

This will give us a chance to see what hayes, Shaw and Pirri can actually do. We've seen the early positive returns on these guys. Now we can see them a little more exposed and get a better idea of what we have going forward.

Decent player but a little underwhelming if this was the big C we needed that we saved all the cap space for.

 

He'll help if he can stay healthy which I guess is something he has issues with.

My initial reaction: Bolland stays on the 2nd line, Kruger to 3rd line and Morrison to 4th line. With everybody healthy the depth chart looks like this

 

Toews- Kane- Sharp

Bolland- Hossa- Stalberg

Kruger- Shaw- Frolik

Morrison- Mayers- Hayes

 

Bickell has his own personal recliner sent to the press box where he and Lepisto play 3 man cribbage with John Scott.
