Edler realizing he was beat and shamelessly attempting to shove the goal off the moorings before Toews could net the Hawks 3rd goal was classic Canucks hockey.

Yup. At first I thought they were going to call off the goal, but the posts stayed in position thankfully. What happens if a player very obviously purposely pushes the goal off the moorings during a scoring opportunity for the other team?

With the win, the Hawks goal differential is +14 which is tied for 2nd best in the NHL, behind only Boston who is +18. Also they lead the NHL in points, albeit with 1-2 more games played than most other teams. The Hawks also lead the NHL in goals scored.

Second to only the Rangers in Points per Game Played.

Waking up a little tired from watching a late Hawks game is always so much easy when they win. And even more easy when they trounce Vancouver.

Depending on the situation, the refs have the discretion to call a penalty shot, give a minor penalty, or award a goal. In practice, if a player is determined to have deliberately knocked the goal off the moorings -- as almost happened last night -- that would be ruled a goal.

I didn't actually think he did it on purpose. Thought he just ended up in that spot and when he went to skate forward he knocked the net forward.

But then, I don't hate Edler as much as I hate some of the other goofs on that team. So I guess I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt.

Can they award the goal and an unsportsmanlike minor? They ought to, otherwise why not give it a try?

just noticed that the hawks have 4 players in the top 20 for points in the league

always was surprised to see that versteeg has 20 points in 17 games so far

Let's not get carried away. Horrible turnover left the guy wide open in front of 50.

They are on one of those rolls where I just feel like they will win this game.

I'm getting really tired of the Chicago media making excuses for Jon Scott. Pat just did it, and during the pregame Boden and Konroyd were both talking about how much improvement he is showing. I'm not seeing it. He must be a really nice guy, and the media obviously likes him. But he still can't skate for [expletive].

[expletive] Emery sucks. 2 goals allowed already. First one not really his fault, but I don't know how the [expletive] he let the 2nd one in.

And....gives up a 3rd goal a minute later and is pulled less than 8 minutes into the game.

Thats 8 goals given up in 67 minutes or so this weekend
