Not a pretty outing for McNutt - 4.1 IP, 2 H, 2 ER, 4 BB, 3 K, 1 HR.

Tennessee down 2-1 in the 5th.

Lost 6-4. Ha was two for five with a home run and a double and 3 rbi's. Ha K'd in his other three at bats. Vitters hit .103 for the series while Ha hit .313 and Lake hit .136. That is how some of our best hitting prospects did verses good pitching.

Yeah, 2 of the 3 guys had a lousy 5 game series. Send them back to Boise next season.

Very disappointing end of the season for McNutt. He has fallen off hard this year.

BAA

June .458

July .361

Aug .326

Sep .353

Is he hurt or just struggling mightily vs. AA hitters?

He's recovering from blisters (April) and a rib injury (May). He was fine following the blister injuries but he really fell off when he came back from the rib injury. He had a solid August, though. His stuff is still good.

Thanks O_O and CR for keeping up these threads. Thanks to the other MiLB experts for the commentary.

Vitters really crapped the bed against good pitchers. He's got a long, long way to go. Hopefully the PCL will inflate his numbers enough to make him a good trade piece.

Great season everyone! Thanks O_O and Raisin (and everyone else). The depth and quality of minor league info you bring up for discussion is why I first started reading this forum and why I joined. Look forward to some interesting topics in the future (and some more home grown talent on the ML team of course!)

Are you talking about in general on the season, or are you judging him on 40 ABs? (Against varying levels of pitchers)

???? He put up his best #s since he was 18.

If you are getting an F and raise it to a D+ you are making progress, but the results still are not good. We all know he can make contact, but his lack of plate discipline and defensive skills will likely cripple him going forward.

But he didn't "crap the bed" He was a 21 year old in a pitcher's leagues who put up decent numbers. He's not a top 100 prospect, but Tyler Colvin is crapping the bed, Vitters is idling along to a mediocre career.

ok, I guess we will have to agree to disagree on Vitters. Colvin has been terrible, but his aggressive promotion without sustained success did him no favors. I think to an extent Vitters has been rushed too. I think Hendry and Co. were trying to get as many prospects up to the bigs as possible to show they weren't lousy at their jobs. Hopefully the new regime will change the way they do business.

Vitters started the season pretty poorly in AA. If you look at his numbers since June he hit .297 .354 OBP and had a .809 OPS.

Sure we would all like to see him OPS .900+, but as a 21 year old in AA, I would say that he more than held his own.

And considering that's been a repeated patter for him (struggle at a new level at first and then produce at a very solid level once he figures it out) I think that's at least somewhat encouraging. Now, if he goes to Iowa to start next season and rakes while taking some walks, I'll be a little more encouraged. At least as much as you can be by a guy doing well in the PCL.
