Was Desmond Clark an expected cut?

I find it funny that in Madden 12, Desmond has by far the best rating of all Bears TEs.

Also Frank Omiyle has a 75 at LT, and the starter Webb has a 69

I don't remember seeing Kyle Adams on the list of cuts. I wonder if he's making the team as the third TE.

Yep. He is. For the moment, anyhow.

Bears cut OL Levi Horn. Possible practice squad.

I thought Horn played pretty well in preseason. He played RG and RT. I thought he played both well enough to be valuable depth. Figured they'd either keep 9 OL or that he'd make it over Edwin Williams.

Oh and I really don't like the Dom DeCicco is the Bears 5th and last LB. Roach and Briggs both missed games last year and we all know about Urlacher. Scary LB corps with just 1 injury.

Interesting cuts out there.

Tavarres Gooden- LB cut by Baltimore. Fast LB that could play SLB or possibly MLB if necessary

Brandon Meriweather- S cut by NE. 2-time probowler, I think he's overrated, but he's a solid player. Would allow the Bears to cut both Venable and Steltz and have a Plan B for Major Wright

Jason Ford- DE cut by Titans. Not a big DE, but had 7 sacks as a rookie in 2008. Would give the Bears some experience and allow them to cut both Reed and Addison, though both have looked good.

I just can't believe what happened to our LB depth in a couple short years. It was our deepest position by far a couple of years ago. Now our 5th LB is a wannabe poor mans Urlacher.

Pretty good depth at every position other than LB though. I don't understand that article saying we're thin at cornerback. Tillman, Jennings, Bowman, Graham, D.J. Moore, Josh Moore. More quantity than quality, but it still shouldn't be considered "thin".

Yeah, 5 of those guys have significant experience. Graham has started 10 games in his career. DJ Moore played like 1/2 the downs last year. Granted it's probably the weakest position on the team, but they are not short of capable bodies.

Brian Waters to sign with NE. Another available O-lineman gone.

Damn, signing him was the first thing I did in my Madden franchise.

LM: #Bears have agreed to terms with ex-Patriots safety Brandon Meriweather on one-year contract.

Well, that's an interesting pick up. Oh, and yet another former #1 draft pick. I'm guessing he replaces Venable on the roster.

I'd rather him replace Steltz. Kinda already know what we have in Steltz, and it's below average backup. Been that for 4 years. Might as well see if Venable can develop at this point.

This is a very good pickup. Lights a fire under Major Wright. I don't think Meriweather goes Week 1, but after that I think the Bears go back to a 3-man rotation at S with Harris, Wright and Meriweather.

Love the Meriweather pickup. Since he's agreed to terms and hasn't "signed" yet, no official corresponding move yet. Steltz is injured...wonder if they might IR him or Chris Conte?

Practice squad: Kris Adams, Levi Horn, Ricky Henry, Andre Smith, Jordan Miller, Pat Trahan, Anthony Walters.

Chester Taylor to Arizona. Marcus Harrison to the Panthers.

Any word on Linnenkohl?

No. And the Bears can sign one more to the practice squad, so we'll see.

Here's number 8..

The Bears also signed former Notre Dame running back Armando Allen, who was cut by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, to their practice squad.

Wow I didn't realize Meriweather made the last two Pro Bowls. Why would a team just drop a Pro Bowl safety in the middle of his prime? Is he hiding some injury we don't know about?

Either way, it's still a good signing.

No injury that I know of. It sounds like he's been cleared of any charges in a shooting this offseason. But most people around the league agree those two pro bowls were a joke (he was good, but wouldn't have been a Pro Bowler on another squad). He definitely seems to have a bad work ethic and tends to do his own thing on the field instead of staying within a system.

That's only half of the weirdness. The other part is that New England is apparently very thin at that position. He did get a huge fine last year for a cheap helmet first tackle on Todd Heap, but I can't imagine a team would drop someone for that.
