Not yet.

Also, Pin-Chieh Chen and Yao-Lin Wang have left Boise for Taiwan and the national team.

Another guy I'd like to see do something in the fall is Michael Burgess. He's only 22, and I'm not quite ready to give up on him.

I think he can end up a Marcus Thames-esque power bat off the bench.

Any idea if Carpenter will be used as a reliever or starter? I think he ultimately ends up as a pen arm in the majors, but I'd like to see him remain as a starter in his minor league career.

The ship has sailed on Carpenter as a starter. He's strictly a reliever now.

They might be on the instructionals roster? Is that a different team?

Boise's season ends this weekend, before instructs starts. I'm guessing Vogelbach didn't get the promotion only because there are already 2 first basemen at Boise who are very good NWL-level players (Cuneo and Hoilman).

I saw him last year quite a bit more ... and I gave up on him. Just don't think he'll ever find the balance between power and average. I think the kid works hard, based off what I know, but sometimes, it just never clicks for some folks.

maybe ... but he's really got to change everything, imo, from his swing to his approach, to really have a shot to work his way up the ladder. Just have never been a huge fan of his (thought Graham Hicks was the most interesting piece from that trade last year, too bad he got injured, although I don't seem to recall what the injury was).

Probably the most interesting group the Cubs have sent in years.

I think 2009 wins: Andrew Cashner, Blake Parker, John Gaub, Josh Vitters, Starlin Castro and Welington Castillo.

So why was vitters left off?

He's been there - they're probably giving other guys a chance to perform. I really want to see what Lake does there.

I'm a Hicks fan too. Tall, young lefty who can spin a breaking ball and hit 90? That's going to be someone to follow.

Burgess needs to get into better shape and then get more aggressive at the plate. He's kind of a three true outcomes guy right now, and that's not a compliment when it's round 3 at High A. That said, his pedigree and toolset will keep him interesting until he completely bombs out.

So have BJax, Carpenter,Cashner and LeMahieu. I don't really get sending LeMahieu again, unless maybe he's going to work out at 3B with the intention of starting him there next year. I would have rather seen someone like Jae-hoon Ha or Rubi Silva go.

That said, the main thing I'd like those two to work on is plate discipline, so maybe it's better they go next year once the running philosophy has been gutted.
