Not that I think Colvin deserves playing time, but I thought the reason Fukudome was traded was to open a spot for Colvin to see what he can do with extended playing time?

 

Reed Johnson has been a pleasant surprise, but I'd really like a manager who isn't worried about getting guys like Baker, Johnson and DeWitt playing time when the Cubs are solidly entrenched in 5th place.

I love it. We're 18 games under .500 in mid-august, and our manager wants to play a 35 year old part time player over a young guy who everyone wants to see what he can give us, because the young guy hasn't earned the PT.

 

Man the management of this team is bat [expletive] crazy and stupid.

I was more or less indifferent on him over the offseason. I did not like that a brief stretch of not sucking got him the job, but I did like that he wasn't Ryno as well as a couple things he said.

 

Within the first week or so of the season I was very down on him based mostly on how he handle the pitching staff, and ever since then he's repeatedly shown to be in way over his head.

As hot as Johnsons been lately, they may very well be showcasing him for the best waiver return possible. Id bet if we were to put him through waivers today, he wouldnt make it past the first few contenders(Cards, D Backs, Giants)
