ONE how on earth does anyone blame alou for this?

Well, he DID act like a raging idiot.

I blame idiots like Kaplan and our terrible fan base in general for allowing this [expletive] to happen.

I swear this isn't hindsight; I don't remember being mad at Bartman at all when this was going down. I'm stomping around my townhouse, I'm swearing about Prior and Gonzalez and Pierre and Mordecai and Derrek Lee and I'm getting mad at Dusty but I could not have cared less about the schlub in the stands.

Oh jeez. Mordecai. I'm leaving the thread now.

he's supposed to just giggle about the fact that some idiot knocked the ball away? i mean, say that you don't blame bartman all you want, but alou has every right to react. he shouted for like 3 seconds and then ran back to position. i think people let their opinions of alou cloud their judgment on this one.

He acted like it was the final out of the game. It wasn't even the final out of the inning, your starter is cruising and you're up by 3 at home with one inning left. Walk away. Call time, something, ANYTHING besides screaming and throwing your glove and spinning around and jumping up and down and pointing and acting like someone just tried to attack you.

He's about 4th in line for blame, but he acted like a jackass and didn't help matters.

I know I've said this before, but I never saw games 6 or 7. I worked both nights and only heard updates and saw the highlights later. It totally sucked, but I never lived through those games pitch by pitch

that's really a lot to ask of a guy who just had nonsense interference from an outside force. he can't even be upset for a moment?

also, bartman kind of reminds me of andy, DISCUSS

I'm astonished that anyone actually thought we'd win game 7. Even when Wood homered I was waiting for the other shoe to drop. Never, ever felt confident about that game for a second.

If I were Steve, I would have done everything in my power to keep this [expletive] from airing.

I feel so bad for him.

He can do nothing. He's tried to do the only thing he can: the silent treatment.

To this day he could probably net a nice paycheck for an in-depth interview.

Wait, what? How is this blaming him? If anything it's the most high profile thing that's striven to vindicate him in some way.

But that's the thing. We took the lead in that game. There's no reason, or excuse, for not winning game 7. We should have held that lead and won the game.

Wood didn't look sharp at all from the very first inning though.

Edit: I should say that Sosa's homer in Game 1 and Wood's homer in Game 7 were the most orgasmic events I have ever witnessed as a sports fan but the jubilation over the Wood homer didn't last long and I got that gnawing doubt back really fast.

I was referring to watching the idiot fanbase's reaction. That and having to re-live this whole thing.

It's not like he has to watch.

I'm sure he can't completely avoid ESPN... and the promos have been running every break for the last week.

I'm not sure what you're thinking he could have done.

The Alou piece was good. I like how he's still hoping we win it, because that might stop people asking him about the play.
