Candelario with 3 more walks.

Three more walks for today's helium watch selection Jeimer Candelario, 17-year-old Cubs 3B whose OBP is now .590 in the DSL

how common is his batting line and/or patience in the DSL? @jklein78 Extremely rare for a 17-year-old. Blue Jays catcher Carlos Perez is the last prospect I can think of with similar numbers

He does exist RT @jklein78 seems so strange to potentially have a patient hitter in the Cubs minor league system. he's our unicorn.

At what point do we go from Candelario has an advanced, patient approach to DSL pitchers have bad control? @RaisinMan101 It's both, but the reports from scouts are that it's an advanced approach

Could he be the next Castro? This is the first I've heard of him. Then again, I usually just follow A and up. Anyone else I'm missing out on?

I think it's about time to do some mid-season prospect lists. We all seem to be itching to talk about our favorite guys and how nobody is giving them enough love.

I'd probably be the only one with Nelson Perez in my top 15-20.

Vitters strikes me as a 3B Markakis. Solid but not a superstar. Let's hope he has a BABIP fueled year ahead of him.

Failing that, we could try him as a lefty pitcher.

Markakis has a much better history of talking walks though. I understand the comparison. Markakis is a guy that does everything OK, but nothing as great as people thought he would. But unless he gets more patient, or extremely lucky, Vitters has a long way to go to get to Markakis' level.

Carlos Penalver has already gotten some buzz in the DSL too this year. Danny Sanchez and Jeffry Baez appear to be living up to their signing bonuses as well.

His strikeout to walk ratio is off the charts...in the wrong direction. As a 23 year old, does he have the time to turn that around? My answer's no.

Candelario has 15 BB in 24 AB. Vitters has 8 BB in 196 AB.

(I can't find plate appearances or I'd have used that.)

Has the ship sailed on Larry Suarez starting? He's 21 all season - 8.2 IP, 4 H, 0 R, 13 K, 2 BB so far at Peoria.

I saw J Baez in one of the box scores and was thinking to myself did we already sign Javier Baez and get him in the outfield?
