5/12 Cardinals (Garcia) @ Cubs (Coleman) 1:20 CDT, CSN TV

How in the hell is their offense so good. Besides Rasmus, Pujols, and Holliday these guys are jokes.

The National League REALLY sucks. The Cubs are 6th in OPS+ and 3rd in OPS.

Plus you left out Berkman.

Man, that's terrible. Can we please get the juice back in baseball?

Oh, OK, NOW that sinker is a strike...as opposed to other dozen times he's hit that spot. Good to know.

Even the Card announcers are talking about how fucked up the zone for Colemans is, though they probably wouldn't be if it weren't 5-0

Lol Soriano.

Why?

For playing the ball off the wall when he could have stood back against the wall and reached up to make the catch.

Molina just missed a home run. If you're a shaky OF it makes much more sense to play the ball off the wall than making a futile effort to leap into the vines to try and catch it on a really sunny day.

A normal Of'er catches that ball. It wasnt a very tough play. You read the ball off the bat, go to the wall and he wouldnt even of had to barely jump if at all to catch it. Soriano wants no part of the wall. Byrd made a catch earlier in the game by doing the same thing.

Can we [expletive] bring in someone to teach these guys how to run the bases? I understand that's usually out, but Castro just watches the SS [expletive] it up, then starts running and beats it out (bad call on the ump)

Edit: This is just frustrating me, especially after the Ramirez getting thrown out/Pena not getting to 3rd the other night

blah, 1 out of 3. We're obviously going nowhere this year, but it would be nice to occasionally win series against the teams I hate.

Between the Hoke hire, Darius Morris leaving early, and this team, I've got nothing to look forward to in sports outside of the Thunder. :banghead:

that's so weird that they are 3rd in OPS. They are dead last in the majors in walks (and 5 behind the Pirates for 2nd least) and their regular lineup contains just one person with a SLG above .410.

They are 2nd in baseball in BA however.

This offense is going to continue to be inconsistent until they start taking walks. That's what made the 08 Cubs so successful. It felt like whenever we needed a run, one of the first 2 batters of the inning would reach, most likely via the walk. We just kept drawing walks and kept the starters pitch counts high, leading to more innings for the opponent's pen. When you don't walk and you don't hit particularly well for power, it takes 3 hits to score a run. How many innings do you really get 3 hits in an inning? Once or twice a game if you're lucky.
