Lots of poor OF defense partly due to gusty winds. Matt Loosen racked up the Ks but gave up a few runs. Justin Bristow got the start and went 3.

Kind of like a Barney in terms of anti-K hitter, but with some power and more walks. Not sure if he has enough arm, but it would seem his bat is enough to contend for a backup job.

Iowa has to deal with the proverbial buzzsaw in Omaha's rotation. Danny Duffy yesterday, Mike Montgomery today, and Vin Mazzaro tomorrow. Yeesh.

I think he's more than capable for a backup job. He's sound behind the plate. I don't know how much of that power translates, but he makes good contact. At worst, he should be able to be a Koyie Hill type.

 

He really should be at AAA, but he needs PT more than anything.
