Your chief characteristic:

Derrick Rose: I think humble. I think my whole life, being humble, so humble.

HUMBLE

He learned it by watching you.

Ugh. 4 pm start time here. I'll probably end up missing the first half.

I can't stand this DRose is humble crap. I don't want my superstar to be humble. MJ was the least humble player ever. And I doubt DRose is really humble either.

Wait, so because MJ was not humble, that means that if DRose is humble it's somehow a fault?

Yup.

You're either exactly like MJ, or something is wrong.

I actually like the whole humility thing.

Even if he's not...even if it's a facade....big freaking whoop. I'd rather him be a nice guy faking a bit of humility than some douchebag. Seems like if you have to rip on him for "bragging about humbleness" you're realllllly looking for something.

He carries himself a lot more respectfully than most athletes that get themselves time in front of a camera. I'm just happy he's not someone that presents himself as some self-entitled douche.

I guess I have weird preferences for athletes though. I'd much rather someone quiet than someone like an Artest/Ochocinco/Sanders/etc. This is part of why I'm someone who actually likes Jay Cutler. Say what you will about him being a whiny douche (he certainly is sometimes), but for the most part the dude keeps his stuff to himself.

I just always think it's ironic when people praise their own modesty or humility. And most of my annoyance with the Rose humility narrative stems more from the media, who play it up an awful lot.

Eh...there's tons of reasons to dislike media narratives. As far as those go, this is pretty tame. They could go back to "Jay Cutler is a [expletive]" if you want.

Give them a little time. They'll get back around to that storyline soon enough.

Also, not to be too dickish towards an opponent, but I keep seeing the Pacers being called "upstarts". I feel like going 0-2 does not qualify as upstart.

I'm not even sure what that's supposed to mean.

Upstarts? Sure, OK. I guess they just mean that the Pacers have made games closer than what people expected coming in. Which they have.

It's probably because for the first time most people are noticing the Pacers are more than just one of the worst playoff teams in NBA history. They also have a lot of young talent (their starting lineup is 28, 25, 24, 23, and 20 years old). The suddenness of that revelation is probably why they're being labeled as upstarts now even if they get swept in this series.

i dont know, maybe it has something to do with going on the road and taking the top seed in the entire playoffs down to the wire twice, despite being a shitty team.

Well, if an eight-seed nearly winning two road games against a 62-win, top-seed team isn't impressive, then that 62-win, top-seeded team must be really, really overrated.

Encouraging note of the day (well, not if you're a Pacers fan): Teams that started out 0-2 on the road, and then came back to win their next 2 at home to tie the series have still lost the series 83% of the time.

I bet that's only 5/6 total.
