God I hate Dusty Baker. What a scumbag.

Dusty Baker does not receive a tenth of the criticism he deserves. It is incredible that he is still in the game.

It's just not going to happen. His arm cannot be used for pitching anymore.

Very very sad story. I remember when the Cubs decided not to sign him, many here were worried about the Cubs looking bad when Prior rose to 2003 level again. He has yet to pitch since leaving the Cubs. 5 straight years out of the big leagues. Geez.

Prior's career path is just painful. More than anything the Cubs teams of the 2000's could have used a legit ace....He's the exact reason why the 2003 team ranks ahead of the '08 team to me as far as talent and WS potential goes.

Oh well...maybe Mark Appel or someone lets the Cub give it the 'ol 2nd college try.

i will always love him

Same here I was really hoping he would make it back these last couple of years with NY or Texas.... I've lost hope though.

i wonder if he'd be any good in the radio booth when they get rid of moreland.

1) By all accounts, he's an [expletive]

2) By all accounts, he hates the Cubs

Nothing like completely unsubstantiated innuendo to sway your opinion, eh?

He's not an [expletive].

ETA: No more so than your average pro athlete.

I remember him giving several pretty rude interviews.

I think his feelings about the Dusty and the Cubs were pretty well-documented. That said, he probably shouldn't have anything against the current version of the Cubs if he is a reasonable person.

those were the days. Depresses me to think about the time when we had a 1-2 punch in the rotation that other teams would actually be afraid of.

For being so well documented I've never heard of it.

He signed my Cubs hat when I was working at the Chicago Stock Exchange. Seemed cool enough, but he was outta of there as soon as he rang the opening bell. I was just praying he would use his left arm to ring the bell.

I say this thread shou survive and thrive until someone even close to as good comes out of the Cubs system again.

Are we strictly talking pitchers? Otherwise it should've been locked before it started.

Most definitely pitchers...Just a decade ago the Cubs were the envy of the league there...for a year.

I truly despise Dusty Baker as a baseball man the second I'm reminded about Prior.

Castro hasn't had a season near as good as prior was in '03

He will and he's already come out of the system.
