Anyway, I am getting a domain problem when I visit this site on Google Chrome or MSIE, but the site works just fine on Safari on my iPhone. Is there anything going on that I should know about?

Yeah, what the hell happened? For a while there there was one of those domain name squatter pages up saying that the ownership for this address had lapsed, and there's still a bunch of people who are getting error messages when they try to to come to the board or the front page.

Different people seem to be getting access back at different times. I got it back later than some but earlier than others. It seems to be related to when your ISP refreshes domain names (which isn't the same time for all ISPs). Apparently the domain name was temporarily lost but now re-established, and it's just a matter of members getting access back when their ISPs refresh.

Had it yesterday morning. I assumed someone let the domain name expire. Same this Morning. I would give your host a call ASAP.

Can't read that at work. What happened?

I also couldn't get on all day yesterday, phone(Safari), IE, firefox...

Government went after some child porn site(s) and in the process took down FreeDNS which lead to 84,000 sites immediately coming down. It was fixed pretty quickly but it takes a little while for that to filter through all of the ISP's. I am guessing but the timing is about right.

It was just a domain registration issue I believe. Tim can confirm, but from what I could tell, the registration on northsidebaseball.com expired on the 14th, and so when dns servers started refreshing the next day, the parked message came up. I looks like Tim got on it when he noticed, and it took a day for the dns servers to propagate and for everyone to be able to get back online.

still giving me the parked page on my iPhone

It can take up to 48 hours for the full propagation.

Starting working yesterday evening on my home laptop, midday today on my iPhone, and still hasn't started working on my work computer. Been a rough 2 days at work. Been spending time reading comments about the Cubs from 1984 on old archived google newsgroups.

It's weird that it has propagated for me at home and on my phone, but at work it hasn't, even though it's all the same ISP (ATT). We have an internal DNS though that may be screwing things up.

Day 3: stil no NSBB on my work computer. Considering pulling my hair out.

Wow. That's surprising. Try clearing your cache. If that doesn't work, try this:

Close your browser.

go to start->run->type "cmd"

In the command window, type "ipconfig /flushdns"

Close the command window, open your browser and try again.

It's a long shot, but might work for ya.

Thanks...I was hoping there was something to try like that, but no big deal. I just checked and low and behold, I am posting from my work computer once more.

Productivity back down to next to nil.

Yeah, I couldn't access the site from my iPad until this morning. You guys are lucky nobody gobbled up the domain name.

yeah, the site for me has been spotty, all the way up until this morning.

as late as last night I was still getting the squatter message.

I access through multiple portals, all the same -- when it's down, it's down from multiple access points.

I couldn't get access for almost a week, I figured you guys lost the rights to the domain or something! I was gonna be upset because I would have no where to rant about how bad the Cubs were gonna be

I'm pretty sure there was never a danger of losing the domain name. I believe there's a "grace period" where the current owner can renew without losing the rights to the name.
