I personally liked 12 rounds or whatever we did in the past.

Yeah, the more I look at it, the more it appears we definitely need more than 10.

I'll change it sometime before the draft starts and probably announce it with other announcements that are draft related.

B - mine is in the mail as of tomorrow morning. Sorry for the delay, no good excuse; just haven't been home much due to work travel.

Appreciate hearing from you, Mr. Defending Champion!

I talked to chuck. He should be able to send in his payment this weekend. He's literally been on the road for a month with his new job.

I vote that the major league draft be open to all players not drafted last June.

Is there anyone opposed to this? I'm sure we can further elaborate that if any player you pick in the major league portion of the draft isn't on a major league team to start the season, they must be dropped rather than stored in the minors.

It would certainly simplify things. Those players who clearly won't make their major league team probably won't be drafted since they would lose them anyway. Guys on the cusp of making their respective teams are a gamble draft pick, but maybe one that someone might be willing to take in a later round.

And the prospect draft can still be any minor league eligible players along with the fresh batch of players from the last June draft.

Thoughts?

I can't think of any better or simpler way to do it. I don't think it's too likely that the situations we're worried about would come up very often (if at all) anyway; if a player is considered a good prospect and has a reasonable chance of starting the season in the majors he's probably already on a roster. Clint's proposal eliminates the possibility of somebody (read: Tim) taking a flier in the major league draft on a pick from last June.

frankly it would be pretty easy to say if they don't have a major league appearance, they aren't eligible for the major league draft.

My bad dude. I'll send it out this weekend. This is the worst thing for me to have to do. My wife has the checkbook and I rarely write checks. I am almost never able to get to the post office and the one near my house just closed anyway.

Get a damn Paypal account! :good:

You can buy a money order at just about any grocery/convenience store. I'm not really as concerned about the money as I am in hearing from everyone and that they will send money at their earliest convenience.

I've started a poll on the Roadkill web site that we can take the majority vote on who is eligible for the major league portion of the draft. Please take the time to be heard.

If I screwed up the poll and left any options out, PM Tim. :D

I'm really busy on Saturday and possibly most of Sunday as well.

I have a dinner engagement that popped up out of nowhere for Monday night, also. But, I should be able to get my picks in one way or another if my turn comes up.

Half of the league has voted in the poll so far, and major league experience only is winning the poll so far. At 10pm pacific time tonight, I will yank the poll off the front page and the majority rule will be adopted for the draft.

I'm in the minority that voted for anybody not taken in last June's draft, but the more I think about it major league experience only would probably be easier to verify since you wouldn't need to remember when they were drafted. Chances are that if a player is expected to start the season in the majors this year he's probably had at least a cup of coffee last September anyway. Somebody without previous major league experience could be taken in the prospect draft, then promoted if he starts the season in the majors.

There are a few rarities, but those rarities might be on someone's minor league roster already. For example, Matt Dominguez might be the Marlins opening day 3b and he has no major league experience. But, I have him on my team, so he's not actually draftable. I hope he's not as apparently the only thing major league ready for him right now is his glove, which doesn't do me a whole lot of good. I think there was a kid in Houston that didn't have major league experience last year that ended up being their 3b and I don't think he had previous major league service or was on anyone's roster. I'm guessing that any of these guys who are rarities probably won't be significant fantasy impacts anyway.

I could go either way with this, so whatever the majority wants is what we will get.

I guess the only real question would be if there are any Japanese players that are anticipated to make an impact coming over this year. I can't think of anyone off hand, though.

I thought about those players too, and I personally think that if they are anticipated to start at the big league level, they should be part of the major league draft, and if they aren't, put 'em in the prospect draft. Those are typically easy to determine. Same for Cuban players, etc...

This league will be complete bedlam once Yu Darvish become eligible.
