If anything, can the playoff results show that the NFC South wasn't really all that this year, and benefitted from the NFC West/Carolina on the schedule to inflate their records?

I'm extremely against the idea of basing the opinions of entire divisions/conferences on bowl record/playoff record. Sample size is way too small. Atlanta lost because they ran into an awesome QB having the day of his life and New Orleans lost because they played a [expletive] game at the worst possible time.

Who said the NFC South was all that anyway?

or they just weren't that good. atlanta's record was better than their expected record given points for/against and yardage gained/allowed. tampa was the same way - solid record but absolutely no wins of any substance.

Fine, but still, who the hell said anything about the NFC South? Someone mentioned it in the Bears thread too. I haven't heard a single word about them all year nationally and I'm a fan of one of the teams.

Really? New Orleans was considered to be a sleeping giant when they reached the playoffs, Atlanta was considered the cream of the crop and Tampa was considered by many people to be a more worthwhile playoff team than the Bears.

Nobody said much about their cake schedules, with the worst team in football and the NFC West on their schedule.

New Orleans was the defending champion and Atlanta was the 1 seed. Not sure what you're looking for people to say about them heading into the playoffs. And I haven't heard one person say Tampa was better than the Bears. Anytime anyone mentioned Tampa it was to emphasize that they never beat anybody.

Eric Allen should probably just not pick games anymore.

That's funny, but he was one of only 2 of those "experts" to go 3-1 the week before. He predicted the Seahawks both weeks.

He was worse than all of their other experts except for Adam Schefter in the regular season also.
