Jyason Stark tweeted that he'd talked to an executive that mentioned during their meeting with the Mets, everyone was available. Including Beltran, Reyes, and even Wright.

Don't get me wrong, I seriously doubt he gets dealt this offseason, but with the extremely weak FA class coming up the folowing year, he's kind of jumped to the top of my wish list for then, especially with Aramis being under our control at that point as far as his club option goes. We'll have tons of money coming off the books and Wright's due 15 mill in 2012 and has a club option for 16 mil in 2013. Does not have a NTC either. He'll be 28 all of next season as well. I'm sure he'd cost a ton in terms of players going back to them, but I think he'd probably be worth it.

Now that Minaya is gone, I wonder if the Mets could open up and start dealing much more freely with Alderson at the helm. I know Wright has been the face of their franchise, but if he's potentially available at any point, I'd hope Hendry(or whoever our GM is at that time) would make a gigantic push for him. And if he becomes available, we may not even be bidding against the Red Sox and Yankees, since they don't have holes at either of their corner infield spots.

It sucks I'm already looking forward to finding potential trade targets for NEXT offseason or even mid year of 2012, but that's how little THIS offseason has done for me. At any rate, Wright would be a perfect fit for us, because we'd have the need and also the available salary coming off the books.

Are you suggesting that one of ARam or Wright moves to 1B in that scenario?

I'd love to have him especially since, as you said, everything else that will be out there is pretty much crap.

If it's next offseason when Wright is truly put on the market, my suggestion would be to use Wright as our 3B.(pretty much better in every facet of baseball than Aramis) Aramis won't be under contract and will be 34 during the 2012 season, so unless he's willing to take a discount from his club option AND play 1B as well, I'd suggest dropping him and moving in a different direction at 1B again from whatever bargain bin type we wind up with over there this offseason, unless it somehow worked out well for us with Pena, Johnson, whoever.....

Pipe meet dream. Anyone I suppose is available in theory. This one, however, should be filed away in believe it when you see it land and not be spoken of again.

Would the Cubs really be getting that much better with this deal? Wouldn't save money.

Just gonna let this one sit here

If you were going to let it sit there you would not have quoted him or posted. David Wright is extremly overrated at NSBB and most other places and has been since he was a prospect.

The anwser to the question is it depends on what they do with Aramis and/or if he is able to stay healthy and recover from his shoulder injury. If he can recover Wright isn't an upgrade and they've probably traded away any pospect who might have had a future.
