Cubs Re-sign Angel Guzman

The Chicago Cubs outrighted pitcher Angel Guzman off the 40-man roster on Thursday. He cleared waivers to become a free agent and has agreed to a minor-league contract with the Cubs and an invitation to spring training, according to a major league source.

Good to hear. Hopefully he can make it back and be a contributor out of the bullpen.

Man Angel has been with this organization for so long. It's kind of hard to believe he's only contributed to the ML club for maybe 2 seasons, 2007 where he spot started for awhile and 2009 when he was the 7th inning guy behind Marmol and G****.

I remember Peter Gammons pimping Guzman on Baseball Tonight back in 2003.

Hope it is for 30,000 and a herd of goats. Talented but I am seeing that glass body shattering again. Hope not though

$30,000 is below the league minimum and herds of goats aren't legal tender.

To be fair, it's a minor league contract and not subject to the league minimum.

To be realistic, if it were for that much below league minimum, he'd sign with another team.
