Not surprising but no I-Cubs.

Was vaguely hoping they'd put Jay Jackson on the back end, but considering the size of the league and Jackson's struggles this year, it is indeed unsurprising.

I kind of thought Jay Jackson had a chance of making it. While he gave up a lot of homers this year and also had a high ERA, his walks were down anyway. Kind of made me think we had told him to work on his control this entire season.......

On a side note, the Cubs only wound up with 6 guys(not counting anyone who may have made more than one list) on these lists. Which is extremely low when compared to other teams. I'm starting to think we may very well wind up somewhere in the 20-25 range when BA ranks their entire system. Not exactly a ringing endorsement for an organization that's pounding their chest talking about player development being the key component for their future turnaround. Even with the graduations of Castro, Colvin, Cashner, and Coleman, I was originally thinking we'd be somewhere right in the middle of the pack.

My impression is they made a concerted effort to get more guys who could make the bigs but not necessarily have a ton of upside, which makes it possible to list several products of your farm system on your team but difficult to get a lot of guys on top lists.

Drew (IL): Where any Iowa cubs close to making the cut?

Jim Shonerd: Hey everyone, thanks for stopping by. Let's talk some PCL, eh? For Iowa, Jay Jackson came pretty close. He's got a power arm and the ball comes out real easy, just needs to refine his secondary stuff. Darwin Barney got some support also, as an intelligent player with a short swing and the ability to use the whole field.

Derrick (Birmingham, AL): What are the thoughts on Josh Donaldson? Showed alot of power and ability to drive in runs. What about him as big league catcher?

Jim Shonerd: Donaldson has some things to clean up defensively. Guys liked his energy back there though. At best, he'll be an offensive catcher, but scouts weren't sold on him.

Donaldson didn't make the top 20 list either.
